Guest guest
Very few of my exercises set the by pilates instructor involved me getting on the floor, in fact I think there was only one. The rest was on machinery sitting, standing or lying on a strange bed like structure working on my upper body to gain core strength to assist with the breathing. This is where an instructor wins hands down over the videos, as they’re designed for a specific reason. Mine was to gain strength in the lung area to assist in breathing basically. This man worked through a physiotherapy centre and as such I could claim some back from health insurance but he was excellent. If I felt the slightest bit uncomfortable about any of the exercises he’d set, he’d change it to something else I was more comfortable with. I found I was really uncomfortable laying on the floor. Is that a thing one gets used to? Re: sideways topic Well, if good exercise clears up the sinuses, this is very interesting. If some lab could identify the chemical involved and package it into a spray...but it would not be patentable since it would be a natural substance. I am probably dreaming aloud. >> Not being able to smell my husband was one of the saddest thingsI've had to deal with since losing my sense of smell in our earlyyears of marriage. I loved the smell of his skin. Definitely connectedto the whole loss of libido. I only wish doctors were more informed ofthe range of side effects and lifestyle implications of samters. They' d be more sympathetic for sure. > > wishing you good health, peace and prosperity, > Beverley> > > No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG.Version: 7.5.524 / Virus Database: 269.23.6/1403 - Release Date: 29/04/2008 7:26 AM > > No virus found in this outgoing message.Checked by AVG.Version: 7.5.524 / Virus Database: 269.23.6/1403 - Release Date: 29/04/2008 7:26 AM > Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
Hi Della, I live in quite a hilly area so either drive to the local beach and have a walk or use an Elliptical Trainer that I bought which is similar to an exercise bike but you’re in the standing position. I don’t walk alone but take my daughter with me just in case I have difficulties in breathing but I always carry ventolin just in case. I find if I push myself too hard I start to sound like an obscene phone call. If you can get a 30 minute walk in each day, or even a couple of 15 minute walks in you would probably notice a huge difference. As you get more fit, you can speed up or walk for longer. You don't need to start by running races, just put one foot in front of the other and move more I find that exercise and eating healthy helps with my symptoms ALOT. When I miss many workouts or eat horribly for more than a day or two I can definitely tell a difference. Della --- <soniarobinstsn (DOT) cc> wrote: > Yes, exercise. Guest guest
I had trouble lying down on the floor for years when my asthma was not under effective control. I could never lie on a carpeted floor and still won't. Has anyone tried Buteyko? I looked into it, but the cost was beyond our budget. From what I read, breathing through in through the nose is important. Since forcing myself to do that, even when it's hard to breathe I have been a lot better, and can go further when walking or exercising. wishing you good health, peace and prosperity, Beverley
Guest guest
There is a Buteyko group. I quit because it got a bit tedious but I learned a lot from the files. I haven't mastered it enough to overcome an attack, but I believe that breathing through you nose especially during exertion is beneficial for tender lungs.PamOn May 3, 2008, at 6:18 PM, Beverley Paine wrote:I had trouble lying down on the floor for years when my asthma was not under effective control. Guest guest
That's interesting Beverly because I do the same thing but primarily before going to sleep. I have to concentrate and I can get quite winded to start but I force myself to breathe in and out of my nose and it really does seem to open the passages. So although I may breathe somewhat harder than the average person through my nose, by using that technique throughout the day it has really helped to keep my passages open. And because of all the posts on here regarding exercise....I tried it again today and walked for 45 minutes. and I do find now I can breathe better and the exercise definitely opened my nasal passages during and after the walk. Thanks everyone for the insight. I knew exercise would benefit me. Bianca > > I had trouble lying down on the floor for years when my asthma was not under effective control. Guest guest
Beverley I’ve heard of the Buteyko method as well but like you, it was too expensive. I’d love to know if it worked for anyone else though. Guest guest
This is good to read as I try to get a walk in each day and find I always end up breathing through my mouth so tomorrow will make the effort to breathe through my nose and see how I go.
