Guest guest
Zyrtec for me is a whole lot better than Clariton. Zyrtec is for indoor/outdoor allergies. I took Clariton, Allegra, AllegraD and with all those I lived on Benadryl and Tylenol Sinus. I had been on Zyretc before and it worked great but my insurance company (tufts) took everyone off Zyrtec. My lung doctor wrote a medical necessity letter to my insurance company and now I am approved for Zyrtec. If you have both indoor and outdoor allergies this is the best drug to take. Talk to your doctor and have them write a letter and send your medical history to them and hopefully they cover it. Guest guest
As far as I know it's still by prescription -- unless someone else knows otherwise .... Guest guest
In terms of Maureen's posts, now I am wondering if what you meant, tom, was about insurance coverage or something like that. My insurance does not cover ANY antihistamines since claritin went over the counter. therefore I cannot get zyrtec unless I pay full price for it. Guest guest
The only reason is not readily available is the price. If your doctors can prove that the cost is worth it to your insurance company (ie hospital stays, doctor's visits, antibiotics) than hopefully your doctor will write a letter to your insurance company as mine did with my medical records and they will finally put you on it. Ask your doctor to send your medical records with your allergy tests and your hospital stays. It has helped me so much. Good luck and keep trying. Guest guest
It is still by prescription and most health insurances (MA. here) will not cover it without a doctor's necessity letter and medical records. The insurance companies here that do that are as follows: Tufts Health Harvard Medical Care Blue Cross Blue Shield The only reason I have found from my experience only is the cost. Guest guest
Please try asking your doctor. I was taking Zyrtec and it helped a lot although not a cure. My insurance also denied after clariton went over the counter. I tried them all even before and after Zyrtec (Clariton, Allegra, AllegraD, Benadryl, Tyleonol Sinus) Nothing helped. I finally had the best doctor in my Pulmonary office who wrote a second letter and sent my records and finally they agreed to cover. I guess it was worth the price each month then my hospital stays and antibiotics to get over the attacks. reactine and sinus> > > > reactine and sinus is an over the counter drug here in canada.comes> > in a white tablet for me no side effects, such as drowsyness etc.> > > > > > > >
