Guest guest Posted November 19, 2001 Report Share Posted November 19, 2001 Bihar Bans Sex-determination Tests In a bid to check female foeticide, the Bihar Government has declared pre-natal sex determination, a penal offence attracting a minimum imprisonment for three years and a fine of upto Rs.10,000. Doctors found guilty of undertaking pre-natal sex determination test for a second time would be liable to imprisonment for five years and a fine of upto Rs. 50,000. All diagnostic centres, private clinics and laboratories performing pathological tests, X-ray and ultra sonography had been asked to display on signboards that they do not conduct sex determination tests.
