Government Hearings on Autism “Epidemic”

On Thursday, April 6 at 10:30am (est) the U.S. House of Representatives

Committee on Government Reform will be holding an all day hearing entitled

" Autism: Present Challenges, Future Needs - Why the Increased Rates? " . This

truly historic hearing, the first of its kind to dedicate an entire day to

the subject of autism, will hear from three panels of parents, researchers,

government officials, and health professions consisting of eighteen

witnesses.

The panels will include " Autism: A Parent's Perspective " , " Autism - The

Vaccine Connection " , and " Autism: Treatment Options and Research " . An

impressive list of witnesses have been assembled to discuss and debate these

subjects. The hearing will take place in Room 2154, Rayburn House Office

Building, Washington, D.C. Of course, all parents who are planning to attend

the Hear Their Silence Rally in Washington on Saturday, April 8 and who will

be in Washington on Thursday, April 6 are invited to attend the hearing. For

those outside of Washington D.C., the hearing from start to finish will be

broadcast live on the Internet at http://www.house.gov/reform/. You will

need Real Player to listen and view the hearing. (Real Player can be

downloaded at the same site, but should be downloaded before the hearing).

Please contact C-SPAN and urge them to cover next Thursday, April 6 hearing

on autism (see details below). You can contact C-SPAN at: events@...

or by calling 877-662-7726 and ask for the " Comments Hotline " . Please

disregard the phone number in the message below, the one I just listed is a

direct line. Between April 6 and April 8 in Washington with the historic all

day hearing on autism, an exciting, major press conference, the CAN

sponsored legislation before Congress, and the Rally, will make for one heck

of a week! Can't wait!
