Funds for AIDS research at siddha institute  

VIRUDHUNAGAR, Nov.21- The Centre has agreed to sanction funds for undertaking AIDS research at the Indian Siddha Institute at the Tambaram TB Sanatorium in Chennai, according to Mr. S. Semmalai, Health Minister. 

Inaugurating a district-level multimedia campaign to create awareness on HIV/AIDS, first of its kind in the countruy, here on Tuesday, Mr. Semmalai said the Siddha medicine practitioners had claimed to have achieved breakthroughs in the treatment of AIDS. The Government, in an attempt at encouraging Siddha research, planned to improve the institute by expanding the facilities available at the TB Sanatorium.
