Guest guest
Christin, When my other family members are sick, I ask them to not come around my kids until their symptoms have cleared up. I also give my kids vitamins throughout the fall and winter, which helps boost their immune systems, I recommend using Vitamin C and a multi vitamin/mineral supplement (I use 'Yummies', but you can ask a local pharmacy what they have to offer). Other people on this group could give you other ideas to try as well. I have been hearing a lot of good things about those essential oils, which I am not looking into. Good luck! P.S. Neither of my kids are vaccinated, I do not seclude them from the world or anything out of the normal. We go shopping at the malls and anywhere we want to go. I am just extra careful about having my kids near anyone with even a cough.
Guest guest
Hi Christin, My daughter is a 3 year-old unvaccinated, happy and healthy child. When she was a year old she was exposed to chicken pox (my older child had it) but she didn't catch it. I don't take any special precautions out of the ordinary with her. She's around other children and I don't worry too much about disease. I worry more about what might happen to her from the ill effects of vaccines. So far, so good! I decided not to vaccinate. Now What? > Hi gang!! > I want everyone to know how much i love this group. I love the fact > that their are people who support my decision not to vaccinate and i > really appreciate all the tips and advice. Here is my question: I > decided not to vaccinate. Guest guest
At times I do try to protect my 5 children from others, but for the most part I think they have a stronger constitution due to the lack of shots, they rarely get sick with colds or the flu, and when sick I treat with alternative medicines, so they are actually fighting their own viruses not subduing them with tylenol, and cough medicines, etc. Don't be afraid, and don't live in fear. Just do things that should be done regardless, wash hands, stay away from sick people, eat properly. Exposure to germs only helps them build up an immunity to their enviroment which is good. I always felt so good about my decision not to vaccinate, I hope you do also. Theresa Tmod@...
Guest guest
Hi I am , mommy to 5. Some of my kids have recieved vaccinations and my youngest has not recieved any at all nor will any of them recieve any more. I wish I had the information I do now on the subject . We don't really do anything different so to speak. Wash our hands a heck of a lot more I suppose than the average family. I also bought a fabric cover for the shopping carts when my youngest is ready to sit in one should he want to. This way he doesnt chew on the bars. Right now he rides around in a sling which seems to keep strange people from touching him in stores. *L* Gotta love that one.We don't share toys with the baby and other babys as I am concerned about the polio vaccince in other kids. Not to mention I don't want the kids catching a cold if I can avoid it. And we stay away from public pools but I would even if my kids were all up to date on shots. I have read far to many things on that issue. Other than that we go to musuems and playgounds and live a normal productive and happy life. This list is great. I lurk most of the time as there is so much to learn here. Hope you enjoy it as much as my dh and I have. Guest guest
I also was wondering about this as it's now summer time here in Iowa. Are my children at a risk at the public swimming pool areas? I'd always heard that polio could be transmitted through the public swimming areas. But, now that I've learned a lot more in the past few years, I don't know if this one is still true or not.......anyone know? Thank you. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I agree with . I try to keep my son away from sickness, but I go where all the other kids go including the imfamous playplaces with tubes and such. I have faith that his immune system will keep him healthy. Ususally, if I notice a kid coughing or has a cold, I just give him echinecea when we get home. Diane Re: I decided not to vaccinate. Guest guest
I heard the same thing years ago but I am not sure how true it is. Makes you wonder though. I had seen several stories on Ecoli being in the water at some pools and one child losing her life over it. They suggested asking the lifeguard on duty about the ph levels in the water but I am doubtful I would get a truthful answer. So we just stay away from them. Anybody else know if polio can be spread this way? Mommy to Brittney, , Chelsea, Cody and Jacbo Debi Banderman wrote: > I also was wondering about this as it's now summer > time here in Iowa. Guest guest
Theoretically it could be spread if the chlorine levels are not right to kill of the bacteria. For this reason, when our daughter was much younger we bought a little pool (about $10) for her and would only go to my in-laws pool. This year I am going to be a little more relaxed since she is old enough to understand not to swallow pool water. I do think asking about when the pool was last checked is a good idea, regardless. kalima wrote: > > I heard the same thing years ago but I am not sure how true it is. Makes > you wonder though. Guest guest
A friend of mine bought the little dip testing sticks and would test the water herself at our public pool. You can buy them at Wal-Mart and it is relatively cheap. The woman who ran the city pool was actually encouraged at the fact a parent was checking to make sure the ph was a the proper levels.
