Was he in really bad shape? Did he not respond to the Tylenol? I'm a bit confused since 100-101 seems like such a low grade fever. Motrin is generally only to be used for a fever of 102 or more though. Two winters ago when my kids had the flu my ped said to alternate the tylenol and motrin...for some reason they work better that way rather than just constantly giving the same one dose after dose. Guest guest
Probably a reaction if he didn't have any other symptoms, like a bug would have had. I guess even mild reactions can probably occur 48 hours later.
Guest guest
I don't know, my son has been running the same type of fever since Sun. and has no other symptoms either. He has not had any vax in almost 7 months so I doubt it's a reaction here. I might take him in tomorrow if the temps not lower in the morning, it was 102 when I put him to bed. shelby DeMaio wrote: > Probably a reaction if he didn't have any other symptoms, like a bug > would have had. Guest guest
I'm so confused as to the different things different docs recommend. Why isn't there more " standard " ? I know I read somewhere that acetaminophen and ibuprofen should never be mixed. You're suppose to stick with one or the other. Acetominophen is for pain relief of non-inflammatory pain, and ibu is for inflammations. I hate when you get two different " advices " . Guest guest
, I was also told to alternate motrin and tylenol so that the coverage overlaps (motrin is 6-8hr, tylenol is 4-6). I was told this after my son had surgery and was taken off 4 days of morphine, by his plastic surgeon. shelby DeMaio wrote: > I'm so confused as to the different things different docs recommend. Guest guest
102 can be scary but it's really not that high in a baby. What really, really works to bring a fever down is a water enema. I've seen it work. Some Homeopaths don't agree with it however. Just got to find what works for you. Guest guest
from what i have been told yes you can give motrin and tylenol together but they have to be atleast 2 hours apart. so if you gave tylenol at 8 then motrin at 10 then tylenol at 12 and so on. motrin does not work well on low grade fevers. it is used to bring high fevers down faster then tylenol. unless he was actin not himself i dont see the need to medicate him and yes a low grade fever can be a reaction to the shot. Guest guest
I was just reading this today, not real detailed just the bare facts and of course it is rather biased towards the vaccine but it explains what it's for. http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/1562 Mel > >I have a friend whose doctor is pressuring her to get this vaccine. Guest guest
Re HIB piece. What happened to the original HIB vaccine licensed in 1985, as it may have been the one my stepson was a guinea pig in.
