Guest guest
Hi everyone I'm a mom of three children ages 21 months to 9 years. Prior to having children, I always believed that vaccines were a good thing, and I thought that anyone who didn't make sure their children were vaccinated against horrible diseases were very hateful or wacko people. Hmmmm, I guess that to some people *I* am now either very hateful or wacko. ) Our first baby started getting the usual round of shots back in 89. After he had his third DPT, he had an awful reaction. It was alarming to say the least. Here my baby had had an awful reaction to a shot, and the doctor tried to tell me it wasn't the shot, hadn't anything to do with the shot, just a coincidence that his major problems happened within hours of the shot.. Here was the doctor who had been sooooo concerned about preventing any children from suffering from any discomfort that might come from any preventable by vaccine disease..here the doctor could care less about what my baby was suffering through now..just too bad! A med student who would graduate and become a " full fledged " doctor just a few months later was also with the doctor, me, and my baby during this time. When the doctor left, the med student told me to keep it hush, but that yes, my baby was suffering from a shot reaction, and she had seen it happen many many times. Later on, other doctors admitted to me that my baby had indeed suffered a reaction. Anyway, we haven't continued vaccinating except against tetanus. I'm not sure that's even a good idea any more, but we live on a farm and we thought there might be a big risk of tetanus. I take a LOT of flack from doctors about our not vaccinating. The whole thing turned my world upside down. I'd previously looked up to and respected doctors, believed them, trusted in them. I've gotten to see a side I don't much care for, and I don't think I will ever trust a doctor again. Or at least not one who insists that vaccinating is still the best avenue, even if it means the death of a few " rare " children. They say a serious reaction is rare. I have rare children. And I'd like to KEEP them. ) Janet W. -- The beginnings of our homestead, homeschool, and home business resource page!
