Guest guest
One peds thoughts.....like so many others,no? http://www.babycenter.com/bbs/3353/index.html Where did some of you people get your values from? The lies that you tell here are unbelievable! I don't know what kind of doctors you think don't believe in immunizations. I have never met an MD who doesn't, and the few who publish books criticizing vaccines are not thought highly of by the scientific and medical profession. But to accuse us of accepting money to push vaccines is pretty unfair at best and horribly dishonest at worst. Are you passing this value system on to your children? It is bad enough that you can't do decent research for their sake, but to be dishonest sets a pretty bad example. Over 99% of MDs recommend immunizations. They receive their education from scientists and other physicians, not drug companies. I know this because I am a pediatrician. I'm sure you are not a physician because you know so little about our training. Please don't lie and misinform people. It is called slander and it is not fair to us. You would not like disparaging and untrue remarks about your chosen profession either. The HIB vaccine has been a miracle which has occured during my lifetime. Reactions to it are so rare. I have never seen one after many thousands of vaccines given. I have seen H. Flu meningitis and it is devastating. This is a disease that will strike an otherwise healthy toddler and kill or severely cripple him/her. A few months ago I watched a 15 year old boy die. He had been a beautiful 1 year old who suffered an ear infection from H. Flu. His parents took him to the doctor but by that time he had meningitis. He lived but with severe brain damage and CP. He had constant seizures and remained at the developmental level of a 4 month old. He finally died from an aspiration pneumonia. I don't see cases like this anymore thanks to this wonderful vaccine. Incidence of H. flu meningitis declined dramatically after the vaccine was introduced. Just this vaccine alone refutes claims that vaccines are ineffective or that diseases had all declined prior to introduction of vaccines. The adverse reactions mentioned in some of the earlier posts here are only temporal associations which would have occured with or without the vaccine. Part of the problem with VAERS reporting is that any bad event that occurs incidently on the day of the vaccine is blamed on the vaccine. But if you took a vitamin pill the same day, why not blame the vitamin? All depends on your bias against vaccines. I answered this question, and I guess it got buried. I reassure parents about how safe vaccines are and have never had parents decline them. If they did refuse, that would have to be ok because I can't force a treatment on anyone. I would never try to force a parent to receive a treatment for their child that they were completely comfortable with. Immunizations are one of the very most important things I do for kids. If parents can't trust me about them, then they should probably choose a provider that they can trust. I need a partnership with parents to provide ideal care for their kids. I am there to help and support them in any way I can. Moms do know what is best for their kids and I listen to their concerns and needs. <<< The FDA acknowledges that only 10% of adverse reactions are reported. So even if, as you state, a fast majority of the ones reported are found to not be related to the vaccine.>>> That is another myth! It is very hard to track down the source of this nonsense, but it appears to represent some off-hand comment made a while ago by an administrator. Actually, the more serious reactions are quite well reported. Mild soreness at the injection site is not always reported and this is probably what the administrator was referring to. Dr. Mendelsohn is not highly regarded by physicians and scientists because he misleads people and writes some pretty crazy stuff. Thousands of pediatricians around the world recommend immunizations, in fact practically every pediatrician believes strongly in vaccines. I would take the word of the majority over one individual any day. It still doesn't justify your lies. Several large studies have shown NO relationship between the MMR and autism. The anti-vaccine people like to ignore research that doesn't support their paranoia and mythology. Parents please visit the CDC or American Academy of Pediatrics websites for reliable information. Your kids deserve it. Vaccines protect against SIDS!! The relationship between SIDS and vaccines has been carefully studied and if anything unimmunized kids are at higher risk for SIDS than immunized ones. Numerous studies have confirmed that vaccines do NOT cause SIDS. Someone here is missing the point. The HIB vaccine prevents, not causes deaths. If you don't want children to die, by all means get them immunized. The data are so clear and repeatedly confirm that vaccines prevent deaths. Thousands of children died from H.Flu prior to the vaccine and now deaths from H. flu are so rare. If you hate to see children die, and I do!, please get them immunized. Take the time to do decent research.

Guest guest
According to the package insert, the people with medical conditions that could make them prone to complications to chicken pox are the people that the manufacturer says shouldn't get the vac. The CDC uses the " 100 people a year die " thing in promoting the vac, but according to the package insert, those people are the ones who can't take the vac anyway! Therefor, the vaccine is not going to save a hundred lives a year, its just going to make the manufacturer richer. Thanx, Jim

Oops! Sorry, didn't sleep much last night. I don't know where my brain was. But, still, wouldn't this child have reacted badly to the HiB if he had such complications? Or am I missing something?
