Guest guest
My daughter stepped on a dry wall screw a year ago and as a chiropractic assistant I have been trained on what to do naturally for it. First let it bleed this is the bodies natural way to clean itself, after that clean the wound very well, we then put peroxide on it and then put iodine tinture on it(remeber the stuff our moms used on us that turned red?) We used antibiotic lotion under bandage. Keep it open don't let it scab over right away and very clean it has to heal from the inside out (like our bodies, huh?) By the way tetanus comes from manure and poor hygeine. Of course you worry about your children getting these diseases and you worry about them cutting off fingers or knocking out teeth and marrying the wrong person and all the many things we worry about as parents (congrats, thats our job) but never make a decision out of fear or guilt, the best advice I have ever been given. I hope it helps you all too. Our family doctor is our chiropractor and we go to him for everything and he gives us advice on our health and refers us out to the other doctors when he feels it neccessary. The medical doctor that we use for first aid emergancies knows this and has great respect for us and the fact that we take responsibility for our health. My 6 mo son has not been to M.D. since he was 2 weeks old and had a check up from long birth complications, he does go to the chiro every 3 weeks though and is the healthiest of all 3 of my kids. Guest guest
I strongly recommend the book " The Vaccine Guide " by Randall Neustaedter - it goes into great detail on each vaccine and adverse effects. In a nutshell - TIG (tetanus immune globulin) can be given to unvaccinated individuals (less than two previous tetanus toxoid injections) within 72 hours of injury. It introduces antibodies directly into the body and provides " passive " immunity - no long-term immunity. But get the book - I have referred to it so often, I've lost count. I was sure the doctor would worry and want to see my 6 year old son. No, never looked at it. didn't worry about it. Told us to soak the foot 3 times a day in warm soapy water. Worked great. Then I put a nail through my hand. Never went to the doctor. The wound started to swell and get red and warm. Started soaking it 3 times a day in warm soapy water. Healed beautifully. I believe the risk of tetanus and infection comes from not cleaning and caring for wounds properly. Kathy
Guest guest
Thank you Cathi, I've tried to track down this book through bookstores in Alberta and no luck yet. Guest guest
I was just wondering.....little kids get cut all the time. How do I know which one is serious? What do you mothers do out there? I did order the book 'The vaccine guide.' I should get it in a few days. Does it have 'guidelines' in it on what to look for? Also, I would love to go into those Archives. I am having trouble. Do I need a pass word? Thanks alot,

Guest guest
Kathy, Thanks for the advice. I guess its a good idea to bring a medical kit with me when I go out. (in my kids bag, or in the car.) Your Doctor knew he didn't have his tetanus shot? I could just picture my sons current Ped. saying " I told you to get that shot! " Glad you are both ok.
