Guest guest
Help! I thought that the vaccination question wasn't going to come up at preschool, as it wasn't mentioned on the registration form I filled out. My daughter started 3 weeks ago, and yesterday she came home with a " medical information " which is dominated by a chart to fill in with vaccination dates and location. She had the DPT and oral polio at 2 and 4 months, but after that I decided I couldn't do it anymore, it just didn't feel right. I got flak from my doctor, but now she leaves me alone. I'm just going to fill in what she has had on the chart and leave the rest blank, but I don't know what to say when they ask why she hasn't had the rest. Do I say what I feel, which is that I feel that putting a vaccine into her body is a much greater assault on her immune system than having the disease would be; or do I use an excuse and say that she had a reaction to a vaccine and we decided not to continue. She did have a reaction to the 4 month shot, but quite frankly I'm more concerned about long-term reactions that aren't yet apparent. Olivia had a bit of a cold when she went to preschool yesterday and I got the evil eye when I picked her up and a comment that " this little girl was coughing a lot today " . Personally, I think that's a good thing, her body is getting rid of the toxins itself. I get the impression that this is not going to be an " alternative medicine " friendly environment. It is a private preschool, with a board of directors made up of parents. Do they have the right to refuse her if she isn't immunized? She enjoys it, so I hate to pull her out, but I'd rather keep her at home until she's 50 than pump her full of vaccines. Any advice?
