WHILE MOST CONVENTIONAL DOCTORS routinely give children numerous

vaccinations against childhood illnesses, some physicians are starting

to question the practice. According to a recent poll of 110 U.S.

doctors (MD.s and D.O.s) who use homeopathy in their medical practice,

there are reasons to think twice before subjecting your young child to

that next injection.

Study directors Vance Dietz, M.D., of the U.S. Centers for Disease

Control and Prevention, and s, M.D., of the University of

Washington School of Public Health, not that %80 of the respondents

(average age of 45, 77% male) say they use homeopathy about 50% of the

time in their practice.

On the matter of vaccinations, only 3% recommend all the routine

childhood vaccinations, while 38% advise selectivity; 37% say it is up

to the parents, not the doctors, while 18% state flat out that they do

not recommend any routine vaccinations to parents. Among the vaccines

judged to be safe and recommendable were tetanus (supported by 59% of

doctors) and polio (46%). None of the physicians advise using the

whole-cell vaccine for pertussis (whooping cough).

Drs. Dietz and s report that 23% of physicians use homeopathic

nosodes to prevent childhood disease or infections such as pertussis,

polio, tetanus, measles, or diphtheria, while 88% use classical

homeopathic remedies for the same purpose. In addition, 51% of these

doctors use homeopathic remedies to prevent adverse vaccine reactions

and 97% use them to treat these reactions. Also of considerable

interest was this conclusion: 58% say that the child's nutritional

status is more important than vaccination in preventing illness.

Not surprisingly, 93% admit there is a risk of side effects with all

vaccines while more than half (53%) of the doctors polled agree that

homeopathic medicines are safer than vaccines and only 17% contend that

vaccines are safer than the actual diseases. Further, 75% say

vaccinated children are more likely to get ear infections than

unvaccinated children and only 11% support the belief that the benefits

of vaccinations outweigh the risks.

Data continues to mount documenting the risks and dangers of vaccines.

The MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine is linked by some researchers

to incidences of brain inflammation (encephalitis) and autism. A

British research study documented 600 cases of side effects directly

traceable to the MMR vaccine, including autism, epilepsy, hearing and

vision problems, and learning disabilities.

Nearly all physicians polled (89%) say the matter of childhood

vaccinations should be decided by parents, not doctors or the state, and

92% agree that children should not automatically get all the

conventionally recommended shots.

Countering the often expressed view that the mass vaccination programs

in the U.S. have been responsible for the decline and defeat of many

childhood illnesses, and 48% contend that vaccinations alone are not

responsible for declines in the incidence of pertussis, polio, and

measles. And the physicians show remarkable insight as the purpose of

childhood illness, a concept rarely discussed by conventional doctors;

74% say that measles strengthens the child's immune system while 89%

contend it is a normal childhood event.

Definition

A homeopathic nosode is a super-diluted remedy made as an energy imprint

from a disease product, such as bacteria, tuberculosis, measles, bowel

infection, influenza, and about 200 other substances. The nosode, which

contains no physical trace of the disease, stimulates the boy to remove

all " taints " or residues it holds of a particular disease, whether it

was inherited or contracted. Only qualified homeopaths may administer a

nosode.
