Guest guest
Have you researched it much? Do you know how long it is >healthy for the baby to do that? Is there some point at which they are >unable to get all of the nutrients they need from breast milk? I haven't been able to find any info on it. I've just talked to some friends that have exclusively nursed their babies up to app. 14 months. I believe most Drs. say at about 6 months you need to get more iron in their diet, but I think they're underestimating breast milk. My son has always been pretty good size (he was 9 1/2 lbs. at birth) he has gained weight and was on the high side of the growth chart the one time he went to the Dr. So I haven't worried about it. How often does he nurse each day? How often at night? Most days he nurses more at night than he does through the day(or at least it seems that way) I'd guess that he nurses every 1-2 hours through the night. I really don't know how often he nurses through the day a couple times an hour for very brief periods while he's awake. How interested is he in the things you are eating? Probably starting at 4-6 months he was always trying to grab my food(which of course signaled to everyone that I should be feeding him) but I think that's just natural and not really a sign that they want to eat. Tues. he'll be a year and it's just been the last 2 weeks that he has been very insistent that he wants tastes of my food. He acts very insistent and gets angry if I'm not paying attention and don't give it to him. But he's still just getting small tastes of things, it's certainly nothing significant. He seems satisfied with that, so we'll keep on like this indefinately. I don't know how strict this list is to staying on topic, I have a OT ? but if it's inapp. just let me know. My DS (the 1 yo) keeps bumping his nose and getting nose bleeds, 4 times this week. My other 2 kids have never had a nose bleed, does anyone have any info. on this. They're not bad they just bleed for a second and stop on their own. It just seems weird to me. Sheila Terry SheilaT111@... Guest guest
Have you talked to La Leche League? They are the breastfeeding experts and I have learned alot from attending their meetings every month. I have a friend who just weaned her Kindergartener from bf but he was not exclusive to that anymore. I think her almost 2 year old is eating solid foods... And I'm thinking that around 4-6 months I'll start my now 2 month old on some Earth's Best cereal.
