Endo appointment - tactics

I have another endo appointment coming up and am looking for some tactical

advice.

I have seen Dr W twice. First time he told me there was nothing wrong with me

before I'd even sat down, but he tried to put me in the diabetic box because I

usually get up once in the night for a wee. When that didn't work he said I had

either CFS or a sleep disorder and discharged me.

I had a full thyroid screen done by Genova then, which showed a TSH of 2.68 and

T4 of 12, so there's clearly something going on. I sent him these results (with

the quality assurance document) and had a nasty letter back saying he couldn't

accept them and there was nothing wrong with me but I needed a second opinion

from 'another thyroid specialist' and he's referred me to Dr R in the same

department. I'm waiting for a date for an appointment.

Dr W was totally uninterested in any of my signs and symptoms and does not

accept that I have a ferritin deficiency, although my last result was only 19.

I have tried to take ferrous sulphate and gentle iron but cannot take either

because even one a day makes me faecally incontinent. I can take Spatone, but

in three months it made no difference to my iron levels.

I'm waiting for Dr R's secretary to let me know whether I need to get any more

tests done as last NHS tests are now 7 months old and I'm quite happy to go

along with my temperature charts and everything else I have collected and go

through the whole thing again, but I am afraid it will be another complete waste

of time.

Is there anything else I can do to get something out of this appointment?

Should I report Dr W's attitude to Genova?

Thanks

D
