Guest guest
Hi, I am new here, I have Grave's disease but was given the max amount of Radioidoine 131 to destroy my thyroid. It stopped functioning in Feb of 2006, so I was put on T4 sythetic replacment hormone. I have not felt " right " since my own thyroid stopped working. No matter what my labs show, I still feel awful and am unable to work. My latest labs show that I am in the normal range but I feel that my TSH is much too high for someone with No gland function. My Endocrinologist will not increase it, although that wouldn't matter much as no matter how much I am on, I still feel like an 80 yr old and I am in my mid 40's I had originally lost an incredible amount of weight to the point of hosptialisation. Before I was diagnosed, I almost died as a result of no one listening to my concerns and all of the symptoms as well as the weight of just over 5 stone and I am 5' 8 " tall. Well, my replacement hormone has been adjusted 10 times ( that's right, no typo ) since 2006. I have shortness of breath as of late and rapid heart rate, I feel due to being so weak but my Primary care as well as Allerigst insisted on my seeing a Cardiologist. I had already had an Echo Cardiogram a year and half ago that was normal but I went. They checked the circulation in my legs, that was normal I had an ECG, it was normal. The Dr listened to my heart and other than it being a bit racy, it was normal. I have had some episode of my heart racing and beating irregular that lasted about 10 mintues but it seemed to only do that when I had a lot of indigestion but who knows? I wore a 24 hour holter monitor last week and don't have the results yet but I feel that it was normal. Now, I have an Echo Stres Test scheduled, I was suppose to go tomorrow but had to reschedule. The DR wants to make sure that my heart doesn't have any irregular beats after put on a treadmill and exercised. Well, I have to be honest, I can ( and it's been this way since my thyroid stopped working) not walk very far as my legs are weak, I can not stand for long as my legs are weak, I am overall weak and how in the world can I exercise on a treadmill? I don't mind having the Echocardiogram ( which they will do before and after I exercise ) but the exercise itself is just doing to be too much. All of my heart tests so far have been normal. I had written a letter on 2 occasions asking my Dr ( Endo) to give me something else other than T4. I had asked if he could add T3 or Natural and he would not. I told him I thought I was having a problem converting enough T3, he said, I was converting. Well, it's in the normal range but I can't convince anyone as to how I feel. My Cardioloigist asked if I was on T3, I told him no and said that was what I was wondering as to why my Endo didn't put me on something like that. He said that the Promimal muscles would be weak if one is hypothroid. He even sees something is linked but said that he couldn't do anything about that as it's out of his field and wanted to know who was managing it though. Thanks for taking the time to listen.
