Guest guest
Hello List, I have been reading this thread with interest and feel the need to comment. Aditya's posting has hit the nail on the head. From my personal perspective, I, as an Asian, did not experience this so called " discrimination " at the ICAAP. This may be because I co-chaired two sessions (WHO/AHRN), chaired a " meet the experts " session, and spoke at two other sessions - all related to injecting drug use and related harms. Coming from a hram reduction perspective, this ICAAP has prominently put IDU issues into the mainstream of AIDS conferences and, thus, must be congratulated for their efforts. Rather, we see bickering of food, etc -which may have been the main issue for those who have complained. For most of us, the issues of importance were related to the areas of our work - AIDS prevention and responses. Well done, ICAAP organisers and co-chairs. My salaams to you.
