Guest guest
Hi all After self-diagnosis and exploration via the very sound and sensible advice to be found on this forum, I feel very lucky to have discovered the right doctor and the right advice to improve my health and wellbeing. No thanks to my GP, but certainly thanks to Sheila and Co. I am just SO glad I found the TPA website! I was getting more and more annoyed about how costly it was to my practice and the NHS in general to perpetrate their insistence of looking at each hypothyroid symptom in isolation, not linking any symptoms being displayed to the core condition! In fact, purposefully ignoring any symptoms whatsoever because the computer says " your thyroid is in range " !!!. Each symptom has initiated a very costly potential cure, from courses of counselling for " stress-related " hair loss, to numerous visits to monitor blood pressure (caused by under-medication)for no perceivable benefit, to potential hospital visits, cameras for " IBS " .. All without any reference to my 'core' condition.. All of which I knew would not solve the problem, because I had bothered to find out more. The potential cost of all this is nothing short of appalling when compared to the cost of thyroid replacement drugs. So I told the Doctor (new to me on that day, poor guy) how appalled I was that they did not look at the core condition before they went on expensive treatment journeys. After telling him all, he apologised on behalf of the practice and asked me if I felt they had let me down. I said Yes - most definitely...He said that I should see him from now on and he would work with me to manage everything as sensibly as possible. I do recognise that he had to deflect it for fear of me complaining in writing and having to deal with a complaint! So, do I have a result of sorts??
