Guest guest
After doing an experiment with Betaine HCl, I found my Stomach Acid to be very low (given i swallowed 40x650mg tablets without burn). The protocol suggested that anyone who could consume 10 pills without burn should test for H Pylori. Well I tested with Oxford Screening. Stool sample. Result cam back Positive! I'm now in the middle of Triple Therapy & my wife & kids tests have been sent off.
Guest guest
Hi ian, when you post such information, even though you have posted the link before, will you post it again please because we are getting new members every day who could well be interested in trying this test to see if this could be their problem. Many thanks Luv - Sheila After doing an experiment with Betaine HCl, I found my Stomach Acid to be very low (given i swallowed 40x650mg tablets without burn). Guest guest
Is this supposed to tell you whether you have Helicobacter Pylori or not? It sounds unlikely since the amount of betaine H Cl you can tolerate is related to how low your stomach acid is, not to the cause of the low stomach acid. With these 2 minute intervals, are you supposed to be having a meal the whole time? Thanks, Miriam > Why not give it a try? As long as you take it steady, like one every 2 minutes. Get to 10 one night, then 15 etc.. I just had to know what my limit was.
Guest guest
No, it won't tell you you've got Pylori, it will just give you an indication of how far off your Acid is.As long as you have a bit of food in your stomach you'll be fine & have a good drink of water. The idea of doing one every 2 minutes is that you don't tip 40 down in one go, then find out you have painful burning. You may wish to take it in stages, IE, if you get to 15 today, stop. Then tomorrow you take 15 in one go + 1 every 2mins up to 20 etc..I think you will notice a difference in your digestion the higher you go.When I did 40, my belly was like a Bingo caller's bag, but I had a Curry that evenning & didn't fart once that evenning or the next day. I slept like a log too. normally after a curry, I'd have rubbish sleep & would be blowing the duvet off!> > Why not give it a try? As long as you take it steady, like one every 2 minutes. Guest guest
Thanks, Ian. I'll consider giving it a try. Guest guest
Those who take B vitamins will pee bright fluorescent green/yellow pee - as this is how the body gets rid of the excess it doesn't need to use. I doubt if you would have noticed any difference in your sleeping pattern after a one off trial of taking 8 drops of HCL Miriam. There are many reasons why the valve may stay open causing heartburn - see http://www.balancedconcepts.net/Hiatal_Hernia.pdf and there is also much information about this with Gerd and Hiatal Hernie. Doctors have their own reasons for suggesting what might be a maximum for most people, but we are not 'most people' and each one of us, as it suggests in the web site, should find the dose that works for us. Are you saying that because you had to take 8 tablets to 'feel the burn', that because Dr Myhill suggests only 5 tablets is needed for 'digestion', that she MUST be 100% right, even though other doctors say otherwise. The one thing we try to teach here at TPA is that doctors are not fallible - it is because too many people believe they are, that they continue to remain so ill on the medications their wonderful doctor prescribes for them, e.g. levothyroxine-only, when they are not capable of converting it to the active hormone T3 so they suffer from toxicity and all the awful symptoms that go along with that. Luv - Sheila Hi Ian, I did the test yesterday and got a feeling of warmth at 8 tablets. So I don't think the amount I usually take with a meal is that far off the maximum I might need (depending on the protein content of that meal). I didn't notice any other changes, such improved sleep. Incidentally, it is normal to have bright yellow urine after taking B vitamins. Perhaps if yours isn't yellow you are taking more H Cl & Pepsin than necessary? I don't have 100% confidence in the website you keep referring to because they have got some things wrong - such as saying that wind causes the stomach valve to stay open thus causing heartburn. If Dr Myhill suggests a maximum of 5 tablets then perhaps 5 is sufficient for digestion? Miriam
Guest guest
Hi Geraldine, Lanzoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, and it's probably the exact opposite of what you need. It will stop the acid in your stomach so the Helicobactor pylori will thrive. The signs of too little acid are very often mistaken for too much acid. Have a look in the files at the bloating stomach file, there is a good explanation about hypochlorhydria. http://f1.grp.fs.com/v1/wJvATObUvB1XJ2su53U1LHRV7CxBJHDOTz6EBCMmreuXryPl1l4\ VfD8pqOXJEfB-NolMAxw36KblOuq0Dk7JQQ/BLOATING%20STOMACH%20/A%20cause%20for%20Bloa\ ting%20Stomach.%20HYPOCHLORHYDRIA.doc Doctors keep getting this very wrong. Increasing acid is done by taking betaine hcl. (I buy off ebay) . > > Hi > > I have not posted in a long time! Guest guest
Geraldine, I was like that until told me about HCL, difference was amazing!!
