Guest guest
A friend has just diagnosed the swellings on my toes as chilblains. I actually showed the foot to the GP last week as I could not support any weight on that foot because of the swelling and have been unable to walk anywhere or wear shoes any length of time for the last fortnight. 2 more toes are now affected and the top of my foot feels like it is on fire though it isn't giving off heat, it is only a nerve sensation. The strange thing is my feet don't get cold to the extent my hands and rest of my body does, so why should I suddenly get chilblains at the age of 46?? The 1st one came up in a week when my body swelling was the worst I've ever experienced and coincided with both of my lower legs suffering weakeness and a cramp which lasted more than a week. Some days I cannot even stand up as my leg muscles are too week to support my weight. I have walked with a limp since the beginning of the year and, of course, that is now causing back pain. Clearly something is amiss. Should I just put it down to " one of those things " and simply put up with it? Or is it indicative of some thyroid/adrenal issue which needs sorting out?
