Guest guest
Hi Donna, brilliant that you've got a doc that sounds like he knows what he's talking about. What's probably happening is that the thyroid meds were a bit strong and you haven't been able to convert them properly.... so the unconverted T4 has built up in your body and caused toxicity and given you these symptoms. By stopping the thyroid meds, the excess T4 can get cleared out of your body and you will have a clean slate so to speak. You need to take your adrenals meds, slowly building them up. If you take adrenals meds too quickly, you can get a massive thyroid medication 'dump' which is very unpleasant. Slow and sure is the way. T3 works great for many people but the adrenals need to be in good working order to tolerate and use it properly. With all these thyroid issues, it can't be emphasised enough the need to start off small and slowly build everything up. Also, that true benefits and results may take a few weeks to manifest.... so you can't expect perfect results straight away (even though good changes are happening in your body). If you go to www.drrind.com you can download a really good temperature chart. This is a good way of monitoring your temps and having a nice clear image of your recovery/status. A great way to take the strain off your adrenals is to follow the adrenal diet by Dr Lam... it really makes a big difference. Also Sara B Ducey (www.saraducey.com) has written "Feed Your Adrenals", which is really helpful. It basically sounds to me that you've over done it with the Erfa, your adrenals have suffered a bit, you need to give them extra support ... building this up slowly, clear out your toxicity and then re start your thyroid meds at a low dose..... and then very gradually build it up until you feel well. I can't advise you how long to stop your thyroid meds for as everyone is different depending on your level of toxicity. When I overdised on Erfa, I had to stop for a week. You'll know when it's all cleared out because you'll start feeling clearer basically. Hope this helps..... I know how you feel..... it will get sorted, julia
