Guest guest
>I have candida which I am treating with diet and antifungal. i think this is an answer/explanation regarding apparently high serum level of ft3 with continued hypo problems ...from what i understand candida really does stop cellular uptake and so does low adrenal reserve. you have low end ft4 and high ft3 so that would indicate good conversion i would think? are you being ruthless with your diet ...i think you have to be to begin with and what that means is no sugar sources...it can be very hard work but it is worth it in the long run. trish > > Hi everyone! > > I just got some blood results and I need help understanding them: > > TSH 4.00range 0.27-4.02 > FT4 13.7range 12.00-22.00 > FT3 6.5range 3.1-6.
Guest guest
Hello Ana - With such a high reading of T3 in the blood, has your GP considered that you might have a diseased thyroid gland? A normal thyroid gland produces thyroxine (T4) which represents around 80% of the thyroid hormone and the other 20% is triiodothyronine (T3). Sometimes the diseased thyroid gland will start producing very high levels of T3 but still produce normal levels of T4. Â This could account for your high FT3, normal FT4 and too high a level of TSH. It could also account for the very low amounts of thyroid hormones being used in your tissues. Were you taking ANY thyroid hormone replacement when you had your blood thyroid function test and the 24 hour urine test? Sheila I just got some blood results and I need help understanding them: TSH 4.00Â Â Â Â Â Â range 0.27-4.02 FT4 13.7Â Â Â Â Â Â Â range 12.00-22.00 FT3 6.5Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â range 3.1-6.8 So I did a 24hr Urine test which showed low amounts of hormones in my tissues. The results were: T3 310Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â range 592-1850 T4 367 range 347-1994 T3:T4 ratio 0.8 range 0.50-2.00 Could my hormones still be low in my tissues? could it be possible that I have an RT3 problem? Guest guest
>Hi Sheila,I am seeing a private doctor since the end of December '09. I am in the process of registering with a new GP as my present GP was helpful or understanding at all. When I first went to see this private doctor, I told him I had Hashimoto's diasease. Is this what you mean by a "diaseased thyroid gland" or you mean something else?> Hello Ana - With such a high reading of T3 in the blood, has your GP considered that you might have a diseased thyroid gland?I am still confused. When I first was diagnosed I had a super high TSH, low T4 and low T3, antibodies present and goiter. The tests I have done in the past have never been this confusing and I am not sure now my doctor knows either (I am trying hard not to be paranoid about my doc). He has ordered an RT3 test, could the count of T3 be RT3?As my T3 is high when I asked for NDT he was hesitant as it contains T3 and he suggested T4 but, T4 converts into T3!what is the best course of treatment in this situation?I am also very concerned about my tissues not using the hormones. Does it mean that hormone treatment will not work?At first, my doc said that my adrenal issues and candida could be the responsible for my low level of hormones in my tissues. I have been months working on my adrenals and about 3 1/2 months on my candida. I do know that my cortisol 2 months ago was low but stable. My candida I do not know. Could you explain to me how a diseased thyroid gland could account for the low amount of hormones in my tissues? Sometimes the diseased thyroid gland will start producing very high levels of T3 but still produce normal levels of T4. This could account for your high FT3, normal FT4 and too high a level of TSH. It could also account for the very low amounts of thyroid hormones being used in your tissues.> No, I was not. I was taking NAX and about 6 to 8 glandulars to help me keep going till I found a doctor.> Were you taking ANY thyroid hormone replacement when you had your blood thyroid function test and the 24 hour urine test? > Thyroid conditions are difficult to understand and my knowledge is limited. I have spent a lot of money already trying to get treatment for my condition and I feel I did not get anywhere. I really feel powerless.I feel unwell, my neck is sore and I do not know what to do next. Up to now, I tried to lead a normal life and it has been challenging, but I really do not know now how long can I keep this for. Thanks,Ana> > > >

Guest guest
Hi Sheila,I am sorry I have taken such a long time to answer your message. I got home late from work these past few days, feeling really tired and not that well. I wrote to my doc 2 days ago, briefly explanning my corncerns about my results but he has not got back to me yet. It seems unlike him not to write back, I hope he does as I would not know what to think if he did not.Thank you very much for the information. I checked the "funny" results box and the only thing I relate to is the "no-compliance with the T4 treatment" .At the time, I was getting sick with the treatment and even though I was "knocking on doors" to get help, they did not open on time.I just hope, it does not have anything to do with my pituitary gland. My doctor insisted on following his "protocol" treatment even though he had all my results and I was telling him how bad I was feeling. Maybe, I should have been more firm with him but I wanted to trust he will take me back to good health again.Saying all this, I do see a little improvement with the NDT. As soon as I take it I start to feel better but just last till 2pm then is 'decline". I had no pain in my neck today and the swelling seems to have gone down a little bit.My memory is still bad. Since last Friday I had some headaches, I have a light nausea when I wake up in the morning that goes away as soon as I take my dose and eat something. The headaches and nausea in bed in the morning is happening since taking the NDT, could it have anything to do it?.Thank you.Ana> >
Guest guest
Hi Sheila, You answered the message below but for some reason I can not find it, I will try to reply the best I can to what I remember you said. I know you mentioned some reasons why my doctor (is a private doctor) did not get back in touch with me. Well, he still has not answered. I am going to see him this Friday so I hope to get an answer on why he has not answered. From now on, there is no more waiting on getting the right treatment. Since March I have been feeling really unwell and he has kept me on Nutri Thyroid. You asked me about my NDT dose as my energy goes down from 2-3pm. I started taking NDT last week, on Friday, I am on a dose of 1/2 grain. Ana
