Iron makes the stools dark.

This is a natural occurrence Sharon. Many people have almost

black stools when taking iron supplements.#

I have a question regarding

my daughters stools. In the last few days since starting her period, her stools

are pungeant and very dark brown/dark charcoal grey,as she describes!

She is taking 4-5 20mg of gentle iron a day and 4000-5000mg of vit C.Shes not

taking any other vits or mins at the moment, but is taking 60mcg of T3.This is

the first time her stools have been like this, but has been taking gentle iron

and vit C for about 6 months, but the dose she is taking at the moment, she has

been taking for a few weeks. She still gets constipated, despite so much vit C

and the gentle iron is supposed to be non-constipating. This is also the

first time she has had stools this colour.Has anybody got any ideas on my

daughters poo problem! Thanks.

Best wishes Sharon
