Guest guest
Hi Everyone I saw my GP last week with my vitamin D result but he wouldn't prescribe any because I am taking a multivatamin at the moment that has 800iu of vitamin D. I go back to see him today to get the results of a lot of blood tests to see if I have polymayalgia rheumatica. I will quiz him again about the vitamin D. The multi also contains calcium as carbonate citrate malate of 200 mg. His concerns were he would have to prescribe it with calcium and he didn't want to unbalance my calcium. He couldn't prescribe more than 800iu of vitamin D alone as it was unlicensed to prescribe a higher dose without calcium, and since I was already taking 800 iu in a multi I was already getting a licensed amount. So all in all I don't really know what to do now, should I just order in some vitamin d and go it alone but at what dose ? Why do we seem to have to get ourselves into such a muddle to get well and why do we always seem to be telling the Gps what to prescribe, it's a madness trying to get well isn't it.
