Guest guest
Hi All, I'm new to this site, and am looking for HOPE! I've been feeling off-kilter for soooo long, that I don't know what its like to feel better and have a personality not coloured by anxiety, fatigue, depression, confusion etc!! In the last month, feeling insulted by my GP (for the last time!), stumbling across the STTM site, linking to this site and getting my lab tests done have all led me here and your experiences have given me courage! But I'm still knackered, confused and teary!! Anyway, here are my test results for you to take a look at. Adrenal Saliva tests Sample 1 8am 2.9 (12 to 22) Sample 2 12pm 3.3 (5 to 9) DHEA am 1.77 Sample 3 5pm 1.7 (3 to 7) DHEA pm 0.86 Sample 4 10pm 0.4 (1 to 3) Total daily Cortisol 8.3 DHEA mean 1.32 (0.40 to 1.47) DHEA/Cortisol ratio 15.84 (2 to 6) Thyroid TT4 55.7 (58-154) TSH 6.44 (0.4-4) FREE T4 10.5 (10 - 22) FREE T3 5.49 (2.8 - 6.5) FREE T4:T3 Ratio 1.91 (3 - 5) Antibodies THYROGLOBULIN 132 (0 - 40) PEROXIDASE (MICROSOMAL) 320 (0-35) SERUM FERRITIN 10 (7-90) I'm thinking it points to Adrenal Fatigue, Hashimotos and low iron. I've read lots but am a bit stuck on how to proceed. Although I intend to see Dr. P in a couple of weeks, the prospect of living in what feels like an exhausting daily nightmare until that time, does not fill me full of the joys of spring! But your positive changes after treatment may just do that! Thanks, ada
Guest guest
Thanks Gill - you really sound like you've come a long long way which is so positive and heartening! I'm in Stockport and am planning to see Dr. P there in June. I would have travelled to whereever else he was going to hold a consultation, but I've become so mentally and physically tired in the last 2 weeks that anything other than going to work on auto-pilot, feels stressful and too much! In preparation, i've bought some ERFA and Cortef - but am waiting for Dr. P's diagnosis and treatment plan before I take these - but just wanted to have everything to hand. I also bough some NAE on Friday, which when it arrives, I will start to take - thats a good idea!!! Thanks! ada I was a mess - thinking about that Im not too bad at all now - my face isnt puffy anymore, Im not in much pain, just a little some of the time but not much and my energy level is much better - Ive walked for an hour or so on friday, saturday and sunday and I work full time and Im still up at 10.30 - so not bad at all! Id say Im 90%+ better and still getting improvements! I hope that makes you believe that you can get better and if not 100% at least nearly!! >
Guest guest
LOL! Thanks ! I'll look forward to that conversation with Dr. P!! I'll probably start baking him gratitude cakes or something!! Can't wait! Wow about that Ferritin 50 -70?? I've been below 15 for the past 15 years + Was down at 2 at one point! That seems like a hill to climb, but I guess i've got good company on this site!! .. > > Stay around, read as many of the files and posts as you can, ask questions - you are safe here, keeping in mind that none here are medically qualified and only speaking from our own experiences and research. > > > jennyF > (SNIPPED...) Guest guest
Hi Ada, With those test results I think that your conclusions are accurate. While you are waiting to see Dr. P you can do quite a lot to prepare your body so it is more ready to cope with the thyroid hormones and adrenal supplements i'm sure will be recommended. first- that very low iron should be supplemented- it is that low that it would show up on an NHS test if you can bear facing your GP again, docs are not usually adverse to treating anaemia. Zinc and selenium are also vital to good thyroid function and vit D3 is also useful. Have a read of the files on the forum site as there is a lot of useful stuff there. > thyroid treatment > From: nzeria01@...> Date: Mon, 24 May 2010 20:38:01 +0000> Subject: What does 'feeling better' feel like for you?> > Hi All, > > I'm new to this site, and am looking for HOPE! Guest guest
- THANKS SO MUCH!! That's really useful information. l knew what the diagnosis would be but not in relative terms - especially with my adrenals. I'll start on the NAE as soon I get them in the post! Thanks, ada > > The good news is that to me, you look like you're good at converting from T4 to t3. That's a trick that a lot of us can't do Your T3 is good considering that your T4 is bottom end of the range. > (SNIPPED...)

Guest guest
Hi Ada - I think Peatfield would not be advising you to start on Cortef or Erfa thyroid right from the start - though you may well need them later. He usually recommends boosting your adrenals first with adrenal glandulars, to be followed by a thyroid supplement (not a hormone) to boost your thyroid first, and then gradually introduces thyroid hormone replacement. It's good that you have also bought some NAE and you might be wise to buy some Nutri Thyroid too (you can buy this from Nutri Ltd with a 33% discount for members of TPA) = see the FILES section of this forum web site.
