Guest guest
I'd love to come but I don't eat Chinese food!! They use too much monosodium glutamate and cornflour, both of which I have problems with and both are the basis of Chinese food!! Bummer!! Guest guest
Glynis, You could come along to the meeting, you don't have to eat the food. The meal will only take up about 45 minutes, the rest of the time will be for the meeting. You'd still have the £12 to pay though. The day isn't about the food, it's about meeting up with everyone else and listening to what is said. The last meeting was really good and I have absolutely no idea what I had to eat! . > > I'd love to come but I don't eat Chinese food!! Guest guest
Hi Sheila, I wrote to my MP and basically got a reply saying they don't influence the treatment offered by GP's for thyroid treatment. What would you like me to do with the letter? Jane From: SheilaT <sheila@...>thyroid treatment Sent: Wed, 25 August, 2010 14:56:11Subject: TPA needs your help - and - are you attending our October Meeting TWO VERY IMPORTANT ISSUES WHICH NEED YOUR ATTENTION. TPA AUTUMN LUNCH AND MEETING – BIRMINGHAM , SATURDAY 2nd OCTOBER – 12.00 Noon - 5.00p.m. Have you yet booked to attend this very important and enjoyable event which is open to ALL TPA members and TPA Medical Advisers. If you have not yet booked, I would strongly recommend that you do so as a matter of urgency as places are limited and being snapped up. You can find all the details in our last Spring/Summer Newsletter, including details of some places to stay for B & B if you are coming from a distance www.tpa-uk.org.uk/newsletters/newsletter_june10 Please contact - Galathea@... to let her know if you will be attending and tell her how many guests you will be bringing with you. We can seat 130 people in the Restaurant. The meeting starts at 12.00 noon sharp with lunch, followed by speeches from Dr Peatfield, Dr Skinner and Dr Mantzourani. This will be followed by an open question and answer session. A fee of £12 (which you pay on the day) includes a two course Lunch, the Meeting and Q and A session, so come along and meet our Medical Advisers and many of our members. I can guarantee a good time has been had by all at our previous annual meetings which to date, have been held in North Yorkshire, so this time, we are looking forward to meeting more of our Southern members. We will again be raising money for TPA by holding a grand raffle for prizes donated by some of our members. At our April conference in North Yorkshire , our raffle raised over £400 which was wonderful. Many thanks to all who contributed. If you would be happy to donate a raffle prize for our Autumn Meeting, please contact Marie - holloway.marie@... and let her know. World Wide Register of Counterexamples to T4-only Therapy IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that all members who been prescribed levothyroxine (T4)-only therapy, and then either added some form of T3, either in combination with T4 or T3 alone, (synthetic or natural thyroid extract), should complete this very important and very short questionnaire if we are at last, to convince the Thyroid/Endocrine Associations throughout the world (such as RCP and BTA) that T4 alone does NOT work for everybody they would have us believe. PLEASE NOTE: This questionnaire is ONLY to be completed by those people who have been prescribed T4 -only and who continued to suffer symptoms, but who then tried a T3 containing hormone replacement. This will be the first ever Register of Counterexamples to T4-only therapy, the results of which will be presented (when completed) to all medical schools and thyroid/endocrine associations who insist that T4-only works for everybody and that T3 is not needed. http://www.tpa-uk.org.uk/register_of_counterexamples.php If you have not already done so, please complete the Hypothyroid Patient's Petition also for a better diagnosis and choice of treatment protocol . http://www.intlhormonesociety.org/index.php?option=com_content & task=view & id=31 & Itemid=53 & tomHack_idp=10 Best wishes Sheila
Guest guest
Hi Jane - can you either send me a copy or write it out as an email as I am wanting to print all the different responses and deal with them as a separate matter with Lansley. As far as I am aware, as yet, he has not responded to any of our requests, Burstow MP (Minister of State for Care Services) has taken it upon himself to respond, and most definitely, he has not even taken the trouble to read any of our letters before he responded. I want to make a point of this, as this has been happening year after year after year and every time we write about hypothyroidism and our problems, they copy out the same old response, whether it is to do with any specific questions we have asked or not. I am really annoyed about this and consider it extremely rude. I will be making an appointment again with my MP as soon as the House is back in session. For yourself, I would go through whatever you had written to your MP in the first place and point out that whatever it was you wrote has NOT been taken into consideration. Write the specific points out again, and ask that these each be dealt with - one by one and that you will keep writing until you get a satisfactory response. Luv - Sheila Hi Sheila, I wrote to my MP and basically got a reply saying they don't influence the treatment offered by GP's for thyroid treatment. What would you like me to do with the letter? Guest guest
MODERATOR- PREVIOUS MESSAGES REDUCED. Hi Glynis, I can't eat MSG or gluten, but usually that can be accommodated in Chinese Restaurants. Anyway, I signed up, it's the meeting that matters, not the food! :-) I'll eat beforehand.
