Guest guest
I've used the compounded Armour, and since it came in the mail I've been using the Erfa. It might be just my imagination, but I prefer the Erfa. It just seems to work faster and smoother or something. It's hard to describe. But I could tell the difference the first time I took the Erfa. Took about thirty minutes or so. And I got mine at the pharmacy you named:) Bethann If we could sell our experiences for what they cost us, we'd all be millionaires. Guest guest
Hi - the product from www.valuepharmaceuticals.com is actually Erfa 'Thyroid'. It is NOT Armour Thyroid as they advertise. I have written and asked them to change the name and told them that the new formulae of Armour Thyroid has put a lot of people off from buying it, and they are going to other pharmacies that sell anything other than Armour Thyroid, and that many people will refuse to buy from them because they are giving misleading information. They never wrote back sadly, nor have they changed it, but believe me, it IS the Erfa Thyroid. I get Erfa 'Thyroid' on the NHS. Attached is a copy of the original letter from the MHRA saying that doctors CAN prescribe Armour Thyroid. There is also an updated copy of the email the MHRA sent to me saying they could also prescribe nature Throid and Westhroid, and a copy of another email saying they could also prescribe the Erfa 'Thyroid'. Please remember that NHS doctors do not have to prescribe any of these products as they remain unlicensed within the UK (Erfa ‘Thyroid’ is licensed in Canada), but we know some doctors are willing to take the responsibility for prescribing these products for you. Both Idis World Medicines and Pharmarama can source any of these products. In order to obtain a NHS prescription for Erfa ‘Thyroid’ you must provide the following: Get a valid UK or US prescription from your doctor, which should have ‘Thyroid’ or ‘ERFA Thyroid’ written on it (dosage is the same as Armour Thyroid) If buying direct from the Erfa pharmacy, ensure that all the required documents are sent to ERFA Canada Inc. by FAX (+1 514 931 7330) or by e-mail to Thyroid@... Place the order Make the payment If you have an NHS prescription, your pharmacist can now source this product from the following wholesalers: Idis World Medicines, IDIS House, Churchfield Road, Weybridge KT13 8DB Tel: 01932 824100 Fax: 01932-824200 Email: enquiries@... Website: http://www.idis.co.uk - or - Pharmarama International Ltd., Unit 7 Capital Business Park, Manor Way, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire WD6 1GW Tel: 020 8238 6770 Fax: 020 8238 6786 Email: enquiries@... Website: http://www.pharmarama.com If you usually get Armour Thyroid from your NHS, you must be aware that if you change to NatureThroid or Westhroid your prescription must state the ‘grains’ as 65mg and not 60mg. If your Doctor gives you a prescription for Erfa ‘Thyroid’ s/he must state the grains as 60mgs. If this is not written correctly, your pharmacist will not dispense the tablets. You may also find that your doctor will need to write another short letter which you should take to your pharmacist with the prescription, stating that the medicine is for hypothyroidism. You can see the available Internet Pharmacies where you can buy Armour Thyroid, Nature Throid, Westhroid and Erfa ‘Thyroid’ and different brands of T3 by going to the FILES section of this Forum web site thyroid treatment and scroll down the long list until you see the FILE entitled ‘Internet Pharmacies’ Hope this helps , and hope your doctor changes his mind about natural thyroid extract, and learns to realise that there is a difference in thyroid hormone levels between those on synthetic levothyroxine and natural thyroid extract. Luv = Sheila Sorry if this has already been discussed - I did a quick search but couldn't find the answer... I've been on 3 grains of Armour for a few years now and that dose was suiting me fine. Since the summer I've been doing less well on it (basically since they reformulated it). So I want to switch but I can't find a way of getting ERFA without a prescription (my GP has made it very clear he doesn't support me taking thyroid supplements as my TSH and FT4 levels are just about within the reference range). So my question is, what's the product from Value Pharmaceuticals like. Has anyone who didn't get on with the new Armour formulation tried this product and, if so, how does it compare? Guest guest
Hi Bethan - many people believe that the Erfa Thyroid is very similar to the 'old' formulae of Armour Thyroid. Certainly, I feel absolutely fine on it and would highly recommend it as the first choice of natural thyroid extract. I have tried Westhroid, but not the Nature Throid. Guest guest
I have looked at the site but I see they require you to fax a copy of your prescription to them. Is this the case, or if not, how does one overcome this? If their product is really erfa, then not only are they wrong in calling it Armour Thyroid, they have even put out a statement that it comes from the same place and is the same product. Guest guest
Hi Lillian, we ordered irfa from value pharmacy in December it arrived within a week, price $111 for 500 one grain, just ordered another batch $ 119, cheek. if you press no prescipion needed you will get your order, no problems. I might add I saw Dr. S three weeks ago, and he is prescibing it for his patients. and was surprised I got mine so cheap. he telephoned Springfields pharmacy, where I used to get my Armour, long before I got it from Forrest while I was there, and his price was £ 200 for the same Ertha. Dr S says many patiets are on this and feel no different, I need 5 grains daily so I shall have to see. My hubby is on one and a half grain daily. I know Armour thyroid is the best, but us poor soul's have no other option. All the best Love Louise. > > I have looked at the site but I see they require you to fax a copy of your prescription to them. Guest guest
Hi Lilian - On Page 3 of the order form where it says Prescription Number (if applicable), you just write 'not applicable' or leave it The name 'Armour Thyroid' can be used by anybody because the (forgotten the name???? - not patent, but something like that DOH!) ran out about ten years ago. For those of you who have bought the 'Armour Thyroid' from valuepharmaceuticals, can you let us know what is stamped on the tablet. Does it have a big 'A' with TC underneath and a line across the other side of the tablet - or does it have 'TCl with 60 underneath (or whatever amount of mgs. it is - with nothing on the other side of the tablet? Guest guest
Hi Louise, Armour Thyroid WAS the best until Forest changed the formulae earlier this year, reducing the dextrose and increasing (massively) the cellulose. This appears to be stopping the active thyroid h hormones from be absorbed into the cells and many complained of symptoms of hypothyroidism returning so are changing over to other thyroid extracts. They say that the Erfa Thyroid is almost the same as the original 'old' Armour Thyroid and definitely is much, much cheaper. I never recommend anybody to get their thyroid extract by a private prescription, it ALWAYS costs much more, the pharmacy gets their cut and you also have to pay the price of a private prescription to get it. Nature Throid, Westhroid, Erfa Thyroid and Armour Thyroid (if you can get it) can all be bought much cheaper direct from an Internet Pharmacy without a prescription. I cannot understand why Dr S says that many of his patients are using Erfa and feel no different, unless he actually means they find it as good as their Armour Thyroid - which I think he might mean. The majority of those I know who are taking Erfa are delighted with it. Guest guest
Then those are most definitely the Erfa (Canadian) Thyroid - those are exactly what I get on my NHS prescription and Erfa Thyroid is written on the bottle, but I get mine in a brown little bottle because they have to open a 500 tablet tub. Did you get these from www.valupharmaceuticals Catriona? Guest guest
Hi and welcome I am now on erfa after many happy years on 'old' armour only to be seriously affected by 'new' armour. I got mine from valuepharmaceuticals, as shelia has already shared, 3 weeks later I am sooo much better again. I did not have a script, just ticked the box and delivery was within 10 days - so happy days. I would definitely recommend erfa thyroid, called armour on the valuepharmaceutical website.(just to confuse those of us who woudlnt touch 'new' armour with a barge pole) jennyF > > Sorry if this has already been discussed - I did a quick search but couldn't find the answer... > > I've been on 3 grains of Armour for a few years now and that dose was suiting me fine. Guest guest
Thanks Sheila. I understand what you say about the patent running out but they have stated that not only is it the same thing but that it is made by the same people. Presumably the same people are Forest. Guest guest
Hi Lilian - it is not valuepharmaceuticals saying that, it is another company that a link for 'more information about Armour Thyroid', takes you to called Drug.Co. Valuepharmaceuticals on their Home Page at the top state " Buy Armour Thyroid online - Chemical Name: thyroid " . The brand name of the Erfa thyroid extract is called 'Thyroid'. Armour Thyroid is no longer a brand name. Also, Forest do not manufacture any of their tablets with a dosage of 125mgs (Forest make 120mgs tablets) - only Erfa Thyroid make 125mgs tablets. Luv - Sheila Thanks Sheila. I understand what you say about the patent running out but they have stated that not only is it the same thing but that it is made by the same people.
