Guest guest
some research on this: http://www.fabresearch.org/view_item.aspx?item_id=456 " Date: 2003 Dr , Senior Research Fellow, Mansfield College & University Lab. of Physiology, Oxford Fatty Acids in Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, and the Autistic Spectrum Scientific evidence suggests that imbalances or deficiencies of certain highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) may contribute to a range of behavioural and learning difficulties including ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and autistic spectrum disorders. This could help to explain the strong familial associations between these conditions and their common overlap within the same individuals. " In one of his books Puri wrote taht VegEPA can be got on prescription? i'm not sure how though or if this is some kind of special order/exception though looks like puri wrote abook on ADHD - whether that is similar to learning difficulties i do not know? I do not know if this is relevant but thought i'd post it just in case. http://www.1stvitality.co.uk/health/adhd/basant_puri_adhd_book.htm http://www.amazon.co.uk/Attention-Deficit-Hyperactivity-Disorder-Natural-Treat/d\ p/1905140010/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & s=books & qid=1263309208 & sr=1-1 chris > > Hi all, can any one help me. my son with learning problems and autism > is taking drugs that are not right for him . he suffers with anxiety > and possable depression. Guest guest
Hello Angel, I'm very sorry to read of your son's problems. I do know a bit about Autism via my work.I don't know how old he is, but children with Autism do find school a very stressful place, often exacerbated by not too much training available for staff to know how to effectively support such children. Young adolescents with Autism can be prone to depression also. It would make sense that this might happen as a continuation of stress etc. Do you already belong to NAS (national autistic society)? I know as well as lots of contacts and links, they have local advice/support groups. Best wishes, hope things improve for you. xx > > Hi all, can any one help me. my son with learning problems and autism > is taking drugs that are not right for him . he suffers with anxiety > and possable depression. Guest guest
Angel Holford has written a book about the mind and diet. It was really useful. Talks a lot of sense but it is a couple of years old now aND THERE HAS BEEN A LOT MORE STUDIES ON the web about VitD , Vit B, Fish Oils etc. It's a good place to start though. Just google his web site or try Amazon. Email me if you can't find the title and I'll search out my copy. I got it to help me understand my daughter's dyslexia / dyspraxia and what I could do when she developed severe anxity / depression aged 15 for which she was encouraged to take anti depressant drugs. She had developed an eating disorder and I felt her diet was woefully deficient in Vits and minerals. When I started supplementing seriously she began to recover quite quickly. Hope it works out for you. I know what it feels like when someone young starts feeling depressed. There was no-one to support her. But we did get through it. Email me if you need a chat.
