Guest guest
i read with great interest Dr P's article on the above. a friend of mine is taking inderal and Tapazole. I realize that inderal is a beta blocker which seems to be ok for dr P combined with valium. She has now become hypothyroid and put on 10 kgs, feels the cold . I think she could reduce the inderal as it is probably too high. but i don't know what tapazole is and if she could also reduce that. As you can imagine, we don't really trust her doctor much. I told her to use the pulse system( resting above 60) and the temperature( above 36.6 to adjust her own medicine. any advice welcome berny
Guest guest
Hi, Tapazole is Methimazole or Carbimazole, its an anti thyroid drug and yes the dosage can be lowered. I`ve been on it a few times and it didn`t agree with me but thats just me. The first time I was on it I went very hypo and ended up stopping it myself as GP said it couldn`t be lowered, he was going on my lack of TSH but I`ve learned a lot since those days. If her bloods are showing hypo or normal it should be reduced to a maintenance dose or if she`s very hypo stopped for a few days though she will need to do this through her doc. I also found out I should`ve been having blood tests every few wks when I was on it but that wasn`t done either so let her know that as well. What dosage is she on? Hope she feels better soon.
