Guest guest
Hi everyone, Just after a bit of advice really. I've just been put on T3 by private doctor who I saw last weekend, I bought my first 3 weeks supply from local chemist (on private presription),to give me time to get an appointment to see my own Gp to see if she is willing to Prescribe it on NHS (private Doctor also writing to her to ask her if she is wiling to do this)My question is , does anybody have any advice as to how I should approach my Doctor about this, because if she is unwilling to do this then i'm afraid I won't be able to afford to keep buying T3 on a private prescription,Any advice gratefully accepted! as I'm not sure how to approach this one? Guest guest
, No problem needing advice again, keep asking and eventually you'll find you know so much you'll start answering too! Ask the doc for a trial of t3, but if no joy, it's legal to purchase from abroad if the meds are for your own use without a prescription. If the total price of your order is more than £18 you may get stung for VAT and £8 handling charge, depends on luck. Here's a link to some internet pharmacies which some of us have used.. thyroid treatment/files/INTERNET%20PHA\ RMACIES%20/ . --- In thyroid treatment , " mcguigan_angela " <an because if she is unwilling to do this then i'm afraid I won't be able to afford to keep buying T3 on a private prescription,Any advice gratefully accepted! as I'm not sure how to approach this one? >
Guest guest
Hi , My GP told me the practice didnt prescribe T3 at all.He was quite happy to put myself,my hubby,my son and my daughter on T4 even though we havent all been diagnosed as hypo.It hasnt worked and so far 3 of us are on T3 and my hubby and daughter are on 60mcg a day now.He also told me he couldnt prescribe Erfa, but has now agreed that he could prescribe it as he already prescribes unlicensed drugs for other patients one being maruana! Although it seems very rare to get a willing GP as I have, even though it has taken time and him telling me some porkies,my patients has worked.I suggest you go to your local chemists and see if they supply anyone with T3 and what surgery they come from, they dont have to give you personal details of who is prescribed it.You could be coy about it and say your GP is willing to prescribe T3 for you,say which surgery you go to and you was just making sure that the chemist could supply it and say you wondered if he already supplies patients from that surgery with it,or something on those lines. Also mention to your GP,as I have, that if he is not willing to at least give you a trial of T3, then you want to be reffered to as many consultants as possible that deal with all your "symptoms",which costs their surgery approx.£500 a time! It may work,it may not,but its worth a try.Maybe even take some info with you from the files on this forum,I take info to my GP all the time, but he is a more willing participant.I hope this helps and hope you get what you are entitled to from your GP.Good luck. Guest guest
Hi angela, Will your private doc be writing to your GP? That is the usual route. As to paying for it you can buy it much cheaper from online pharmacies- as listed in the files. > thyroid treatment > From: angelamcguigan1@...> Date: Tue, 18 May 2010 11:54:53 +0000> Subject: Newbie needs advice again.> > Hi everyone,> Just after a bit of advice really.> I've just been put on T3 by private doctor who I saw last weekend, I bought my first 3 weeks supply from local chemist (on private presription),to give me time to get an appointment to see my own Gp to see if she is willing to Prescribe it on NHS (private Doctor also writing to her to ask her if she is wiling to do this)My question is , does anybody have any advice as to how I should approach my Doctor about this, because if she is unwilling to do this then i'm afraid I won't be able to afford to keep buying T3 on a private prescription,Any advice gratefully accepted! as I'm not sure how to approach this one? > > > > ------------------------------------> > TPA is not medically qualified.
