hospital without a referral from a GP.

Hi Ada

Have you tried asking your GP to do the synacthen test? Mine offered to do it in

surgery.

Also it might be worth just waiting for the endo depending on how bad you feel.

Bad results on a saliva test don't necessarily equate to bad results on a

synacthen test. Have you had your 9am serum cortisol tested yet? Your GP could

easily run that test for you in the meantime.

If you don't mind paying a fair whack, there are a couple of places that might

be able to help with the synacthen. This company will do it without a GP

referral but you would have to have it done at their London lab. Costs

£367.24...

You could join e-med - a private online GP service. They say they can organize

tests anywhere in the world so you might get something more local to you.

Membership costs £20 a year to join, £15 per test request plus the cost of the

test. Maybe email them first to see if they will do it in your area...

I didn't bother with them because I was told their tests took

ages to come back, but that was a long time ago. I am very happy to promote

Genova as I have found them excellent - and they do give our members discounts

on thyroid and adrenal tests.

I used Red Apple and found them to be very good. You get a full explanatory

report on each of the results, not just a load of numbers that you have to get

interpreted.

I'm more than happy to recommend Genova too, but I can't find this test in their

lists. Have I missed it, or isn't it there?
