Hi Everyone

Does anyone on the TPA forum know of any Laboratory in Kent who will test for

Lymes Disease. My Daughter's Doctor would like her tested for this. I have

been in contact with Genova but unfortunately they do not do this test.

Any help much appreciated.

Barry,

If this is early stage Lyme, then I highly recommend that your friend become

familiar with the Diagnostic Hints and Treatment Guideline by Dr. ph

Burrascano, MD which is posted on the ILADS website:

http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/treatment_guidelines.html - (Scroll down to

the 3rd item and click on it.)

Next, find an experienced ILADS doctor who follows this protocol. The best way

to find such a person is to post a request for a doctor referral list at

LymeNet. Here's the link:

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?

It is important to treat early stage Lyme aggressively and thoroughly. Whatever

your friend does, s/he should NOT consult an infectious disease specialist

because this group of doctors does not believe in treating early stage Lyme

disease thoroughly enough and you do not want to take a chance on incomplete

treatment which can lead to late-stage Lyme disease.

It is probably too late to expect that iodine would be adequate to keep the Lyme

spirochetes from spreading past the site of the tick bite in the skin and into

the blood stream since your friend is already experiencing symptoms. If it were

really, really early stage Lyme without any symptoms other than the tick bite

and rash, then taking really large doses of iodine several times a day might be

sufficient to prevent it from becoming systemic, but it sounds to me as if that

window of opportunity has already closed for your friend.

There is no proven protocol for treating late-stage Lyme disease with iodine.

There are also other tick-borne co-infections which must be tested for and

treated if they are present. An experienced ILADS doctor will know how to test

for and treat all of these co-infections also.

terribly. does anyone know if iodine has been successful in treating this

illness? is there a certain protocol? thanks, barry
