Guest guest
Olga, How do you get exposed to people without going out? Since stomach flu is typically self-limiting, I wonder if your situation is really viral. And if your immunity is deficient, why wouldn't you get other stuff, a variety of things. I know, for instance, that my digestion acts up-or did- if I got very tired. But it wasn't an infection. Does your digestive tract work well except for those circumstances? My doc recommended as an adoptogen Siberian Ginsing, (Eleuthero). I am just learning to use it. It's strong. Adrienne Adaptogens Does anyone know the latest on what adoptogens may be helful, especially when when keeps getting viral infections? I keep getting severe stomach-flu type illnesses on top of all my ME/FMS that can last for weeks and months when I go out or get exposed to people. Is rhodiola something that anyone knows about? There must be something I can do to at least build up a bit of immunity. Olga This list is intended for patients to share personal experiences with each other, not to give medical advice. If you are interested in any treatment discussed here, please consult your doctor.
Guest guest
olga Some adaptogens give more immune system support while others give less. Rhodiola might help but i really don't know if it's main function is immune support or not. I heard that astralagus and Reishi mashroom are known for mainly immune support. There might be others.. best wishes. Guest guest
My LLMD is big on Rhodiolia, she really thinks it helps. I, however, took it and never felt it helped but that could be for all kinds of reasons, especially not taking it long enough or consistantly enough. Guest guest
Siberian Ginseng and Rhodiola are two adaptogens ...you could think of them as " Mother " ....the body will use them as appropriate, they are gently nourishing (not like my mother I might add, but hey, there you go LOL) http://botano.gr/herbs-and-spices/herbs-with-healing-properties/body-mind-spirit\ -long-living-tea.html Do a google for siberian ginseng and others. Guest guest
Hi I have had great success recently with rhodiola. Have tried ginseng before with no great result so kind of though rhodiola would be more of the same when someone recommended it to me. But it has proven to be extremely useful in that uf raises low cortisol and lower high cortisol which is a great benefit to many. It lifts mood and energy and I would thoroughly recommend it. I take it in high dose as per the recommendation I was given ie 1 gm am and 500 mg lunchtime. You could try lower and see what works for you. I recommended it to a friend who did not do well with it and that is because of a general sensitivity to supplements and meds. Guest guest
Hi I used Rhodiola for about 18 months before I first got ill. I half wonder now if it was wise to be taking that herb for so long and wonder if it in some way contributed to my adrenals getting messed up.
