Is he actually a doctor and if so what of... and do we know where and when he

qualified?

I have been curious about him for a long time... He is very anti patrick

holford...

How is he classified an expert when others are not?

I think he is a Dr, though what his qualifications are I haven't been able to

find out. However, after a few searches it's clear that he has conections to

Prof. Simon Wessely who wants everyone to believe that ME and CFS are

psychiatric illnesses.

I think Ben Goldacre also has connections to Sense About Science.

Hi LouiseWell he's on the GMC register as a doctor with a licence to practice , but is not a specialist or a GP. He qualified in London in 2000. Registration no 4641451.Can be contacted via website at http://www.badscience.net This is cut from the website: Ben is an award-winning writer, broadcaster, and medical doctor who specialises in unpicking dodgy scientific claims made by scaremongering journalists, dodgy government reports, evil pharmaceutical corporations,

PR companies and quacks.

He has written the weekly Bad Science column in the Guardian since 2003. It's archived on this site along with blogposts, columns for the British Medical Journal, and other stuff. x >> >>

Should we call his bluff and get him to " investiagte " why the uK treats hypos

differently from other places and why the RCP ignores current reasearch...

Ask him to do what he says he does ! Deal with bad science!

Just a thought!

Hi Kim,

Wouldn't bother, I just checked him out on Wikipedia

" ....He is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and is a research

fellow at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London "

So that's why he has a licence to practice as a doctor, but is not a GP or a

specialist...

He'd probably tell us all that it's in our heads.. :(

I think I read somewhere that he does psycology, it may have been on his bad

science forum, but it's such a miserable forum I can't be bothered to go back

there.... Getting lots of web hits on the site only encourages them,
