stopped taking NAX for short syc on 1st April experiencing big crash

hi,

as per above, feel really bad, very tired and slow, in every way cognitive,

having to really think about I am doing, going to do, say, very anxious, nervy,(

nervous habits back big time as well ), look like deputy dog, skin problems,

tummy problems, constipation, quite depressed, no energy, feeling very cold..

anything can do interim or have to stick with it..? to be honest didn't think i

relied on the NAX so much, and could come off and give the adrenals a rest as

know should't take for too long, but can REALLy feel the difference..will this

subside and body self regulate eventually, or do you think should go back on (

been of for nearly fortnight )..

Hi Jill

If you

have already got the kit for the 24 hour salivary profile, do the test tomorrow

(too late for today) and then start taking your NAE straight after wards. If

you have not yet got the kit, write and tell Genova and tell them you are

wanting to do the 24 hour salivary adrenal profile and the medications you have

been taking. Tell them how you feel and ask for their advice. Are you taking

Siberian Ginseng and liquorice root or liquorice extract - these should help

you. Drop a line to Dr Nigel Abrahams NAbraham@....

not I haven't and money the the thing stopping me from getting it at the moment,

I have been taking ginko biloba and taurine bit not liqourice or ginseng, don't

know if worth trying to get as test less than week away, or stick it out and

then go back on afterwards, or do you think should get some for 3/4 days..?

my tremor is very bad on right hand, and just general feeling of weakness on

that side, which is my dominant for doing things..i feel the way I was when TSH

was up at 10 and high antibodies, know had lot of stress this week as per what

discussed on chattery maybe that, but feeling pretty bad..

pps to last reply forgot to say that my acne on chin is quite bad at the moment

and nothing topical seeming to have an effect, i am i right in saying this is

indicative of hormonal problems, thyroid and or sex..?

It is possible Jill that the recent additional stress and

stopping your adrenal meds have pretty much collided and this could be the

reason why you are feeling so bad. Hopefully, the stress you are suffering

right now will show in your adrenal test. Apologies, in my recent post, I

thought you had stopped your NAE before getting the 24 hour salivary adrenal

stress profile from Genova and now remembered this is not the case. Do you

think you can manage another week? I think the Siberian Ginseng (it is the

best) and liquorice could help you right now.

I'm not sure that's wise?

Siberian Ginseng is stimulating (may increase Cortisol) & Licorice affects

Cortisol (extends half life).

Neither should be taken within 2 weeks of a ACTH Stim test.

No point in having a Stim test if it won't be accurate.

Did you wean down on th Nutrimeds or just stop cold turkey?

That said if it looks like you are heading into a crisis (low HR, BP, vomiting,

headache , nausea) I would waste no time contacting the Doc who's organised the

Stim. If not contactible I would front up to ER & say you are suspected AI,

about to be formerly tested & you are crashing. They can dx Dexamethasone

apparently if they think you are in trouble. Supposedly it doesn't affect ACTH

Stim testing (at least that's what the Endo's tell you.

the appoinment only came in just over 2 weeks ago and that's when stopped NAX (

dead ) was taking between 3 and 6 depending on how felt and o n3 grains thiroyd

from greater pharma..
