Hi LilianYou should join the Pernicious Anaemia Society forumhttp://www.pernicious-anaemia-society.org/ You will get all the advice you need there. Sounds like you need to change your GP.RegardsIan>> I have to have B12 injections every three months. I have asked several times if I could do it myself and they have always said no it cannot be done. Hello Lilian, I do my own B12 and magnesium injections. I've been seeing a

private Dr who provides the necessary - B12, magnesium and syringes. My GP said

she couldn't prescribe anything like that, even though I know she could if she

wanted. However I did manage to get my GP to agree the practice nurse teaching

me how to do the injections myself and I get the sharps bin on prescription.

Hope this is of help,

Louise.

Hi Lilian,

Well, I have a liquid hc & syringe in case I need to use it in an emergency, and I think this is common for us on hc to have one at home/in the car. Luckily I have not had to us eit so far but I have been close on a number of occasions.

hi Sheila,

My daughter does her own B12 injections. Dr M wrote to the GP who now prescribes

it for her. The district nurse came to show us how the draw up the injection and

to inject it. I did it at first as my daughter doesn't like needles but she is

now managing to do it herself.

Hi Lillian,

http://www.drmyhill.co.uk/article.cfm?id=341

Dr M's information on Vit B12.

My daughter is prescribed this by the GP as per Dr M instructions. She injects ½

mg (0.50) daily by subcutaneous injection.

Hope this helps you.
