Guest guest
Hi Sheila, I don't know if you remember the endo I am complaining about – Dr R? Well, my other half went to see him at the beginning of April and thought he was very nice. He went to see him yesterday and came away with a prescription for Efra !!!!!!! My OH is on 3 grains of Efra and 40mcg of T3. The blood test results showed that his TSH was low and, because his T3 was low Dr R said that he was under-medicated. Not a murmur about TSH being too low. My OH told Dr R that he had been to see a metabolic specialist, was diagnosed a being hypothyroid and was taking NDT and T3 – not a murmur from Dr R. No mention of unorthodox doctors – no mention of unorthodox medication – no mention of problems with self medicating – nothing. Dr R gave my OH a blood test form to have more tests for FT3, cortisol, antibodies and some other stuff and told him to come back in two months. I was concerned that Dr R would not think that my OH was ill as he is looking better than he has done in years - all because of the NDT and T3. But despite all this Dr R said that he certainly had a thyroid problem. I really felt angry because my OH had an easy time with Dr R – and I didn't. When I went to see Dr R in 2008 after seeing Dr P in 2007, I had the results of my 24 hr urine thyroid test which showed my T3 was under range. My NHS isotope thyroid scan showed Hashi's and hypothyroidism – and the blood test showed my T3 was low. I had a list of symptoms and signs as long as my arm – and when I saw him I had no eyebrow hair and looked ill. And yet the b^st^rd said I did not have a thyroid problem. He suggested HRT – despite saying my estrogen was normal and knowing I was using Natural Progesterone cream. Is Dr R stupid? Is he a chauvinist pig and does not like women – especially old women? Was he pi$$ed off because I told him I saw Dr P and showed him the 24hr urine thyroid test? I can't understand Dr R treating my OH in such a different way to the way he treated me. I am fuming. I am still in the process of complaining and waiting for answers to my questions about his stupid diagnosis. I have been writing for two years and so far he has not given me any answers. Guest guest
Hi I would definately take your OH to your next appointment - in my experience it is all to easy when it is just you and them for them to be incredibly rude and arrogant and dismiss you, after all even if you do complain they can just tell everyone that you're mistaken and must have 'imagined it' because of your hormones which is what happened to me. My endo even later claimed there was a chaperone in the room when he saw me who naturally could verify everything he said - I can only assume she was invisible because I certainly didn't see her! Good luck but I would def take your OH - will be interesting to see how differently he treats you with him there. Guest guest
Hi , I have thought of that but I don't want to hinder my OH's dealings with Dr R at the moment. I will wait until my OH gets all the tests done - and gets T3, as well as the Efra, prescribed for him. The complaints dept at the hospital suggested I meet with Dr R to discuss my complaint - I refused as I didn't think I had enough emotional strength - my adrenals would have let me down. Anyway, if Dr R will not answer my questions in my letters, I doubt he would answer them face to face............however, once my OH is sorted, I may reconsider and take him with me.
