Guest guest
Hi Everyone Regarding my Vitamin Dp blood test which my endo did for me, it came back at 54 and should be >60. He has told me that my GP should be able to prescribe me a course of Vitamin D. I have an appointment this afternoon to see the GP but am worried about the dosage he may prescribe. Can anyone advise me what dosage I should be having so that if possible I can steer him in the right direction. Regards Love Lizzie
Guest guest
Hi All Well I have been to see the GP. He has happily prescribed ferrous sulphate for me but has not prescribed Vitamin D. He says that the licensed amount he is allowed to prescribe is 800 iu which I am already taking in a multivitamin tablet. He also said that he would have to prescribe it with calcium if he prescribed more and my calcium levels were normal and so he did not want to put them too high. So basically I am wondering if I should just buy my own vitamin D tablets without calcium and take those, as the 800 iu in the multivitamin don't seem to have been doing much. He was excellent in that he has requested lots of blood tests and x-rays of my knees and hips and is suspecting I may have polymyalgia rheumatica which may be causing my thigh muscle pains. Hopefully I will get to the bottom of this. Love Lizzie > Regarding my Vitamin Dp blood test which my endo did for me, it came back at 54 and should be >60. Why not? 1000 is considered a modest amount in many parts of the world, especially outside of the summer months. Assuming you go out in the sun without sunscreen for a while when the sun's high in the sky. 2000 for other times of year and if not getting out in the sun. I know people who take more. The UK isn't behind on everything, but it's at least 2 years behind on Vit D3, which is odd when it's a country where it's not easy to get enough from sunshine. Admin question. Is it possible to increase the number of characters in the subject line? Because of the long group name, the subject is cropped too much. With so much traffic I have to skim sometimes, and I'd like to try to pick the messages of most interest. Thanks, Jo
