Dear Empeddie (is this what you want to be called),

the hair loss is awful, I sympathise and I know how it can become almost obsessional.... looking at the brush, counting how many strands have fallen out ,looking in the mirror at what you've 'lost'.

I can only share my experience and give some tips. Firstly I assume you are hypot ? Where are you at with your treatment plan and what are your results with things like iron etc (have you looked at all the associateds in the files?)

Once you get your thyroid meds sorted and your associateds properly addressed....levels up to what they should be, you hair loss may well stop or radically diminish. The way your body looks at it is, that it prioritises need. The need for hair is way down on the list as far as your body is concerned....so it's taking care of the other needs first with the resources it has. If the thyroid/adrenals are not getting and giving what it needs, then it has no choice but to eek out the resources to the 'departments' most at need... ie muscle tissue repair...brain function.

Once you have your thyroid meds right, your adrenals up to par and your supps getting in there adequately, your body will happily dish out what your hair needs. It's also important to remember that every three months, your scalp naturally 'dumps' hair... this can make things seem worse.

I lost half of my hair, it was my best feature and I drove myself silly about it. Now I've changed my mind set (had to) and look at my hair and enjoy what I have got. We just can't afford the luxury of negative thought. It leads nowhere and there's so little support (except here) that we can't afford the energy loss it takes to be depressed ( I was bi-polar so hopefully I can say that without seeming patronizing) Better to get an active treatment schedule and focus on that.... it's the way a'head'.

sympathising,

julia
