Guest guest
Hi everyone I have some test results and your expert help in understanding them would be very much appreciated! Here goes:- Code Normality Result Serum TSH (XaELV) Below Range <0.05 miu/L (0.3 - 5.5) Serum free T4 level (XaERr) Above Range 27.0 pmol/L (12-22) Serum free triodothryronine 6.6 pmol/L (3.1-6.8) level (XaERq) So TSH below and T4 above - does this mean I am taking too much? Been on 150mg levo for about 4 weeks now.. Kind Regards Lynne

Been on 150mglevo for about 4 weeks now.. Hello Lynne, I don't know what (XaELV) etc. means or if this has any relevance, but just looking at the figures - yes, you might be taking a bit too much. Ideally the FT4 should be in the upper third of the ref range, but not above it. - However, the important question is - how are you feeling? Furthermore, did you take your Levo on the morning of the blood draw? - if so, that would account for showing an appprox 10% - 15% higher FT4 reading than the true figure. I'm not sure to what degree this would influence the FT3 reading (since Levo is only T4), but I would guess about the same. From experience I know that when you slightly overdose on Levo, you might feel fine and not notice any hyper symptoms until you have taken the higher dose for about 4 -5 weeks. At least this was what happened with me. The hyper signs were quite subtle for a few days, but they increased steadily - slight breathlessness on exertion, lethargy, pain in my thighs, difficulties to walk briskly, palpitations.... When I cut back from 150 to 125 mcg, I was back to normal after a couple of days. But see how it goes. When you become hyper, your body will let you know for sure. Guest guest
>Hi I didn't take any on the morning of the test. I am just getting used to feeling anything like well (a shock to the system definitely!) I tend to think I felt fab on 125mg, then raised it to 150mg and felt slightly not quite so well... My first thought was - could this be my body getting used to having the right levels and balancing out? The only funnies I have experienced since the increase is feeling like my skin is puffy and retaining fluid, hearing my heart beating a lot and extremely restless in bed. Could these be hyper symptoms perhaps?? Could these be hyper symptoms perhaps?? Hello Lynne, Yes, it is very likely that those might be. I am not sure about puffy skin and retaining fluid as hyper symptoms, (though it is possible that your heart is under too much strain on this dosage), but the strong heartbeat and restlessness certainly are. If it were me, I would cut back to 125 mcg and see how it goes. Best wishes,
Guest guest
Hi Lynne, If you have symptoms of hyperthyroidism (palpitations, sweating, dizziness, feeling spaced out) then you should cut your dose by 25mcgs but thyroxine has a long half life so you will not feel the effects immediately. If you feel fine, then leave your dose as it is. When taking thyroid hormone supplements, it is really pointless to do thyroid function tests, and you should go by how you feel. Guest guest
Just read this message Lynne after answering your other message. Yes, these are symptoms of going hyper so cut down your dose back to 125mcgs. Luv - Sheila >Hi I didn't take any on the morning of the test.
