Hi

I have no idea if the generics from Thailand are hypoallergenic - but

my body is pretty sensitive to changes and I feel fine on them ...

although I would not say that I am allergic to any of the fillers, so

can't vouch that those generic will work for everybody.

What I can say is that since I can no longer obtain Armour or

Naturethroid from the US, I have taken the plunge and ordered generic

Armour from Greater Pharma. It has exceeded my highest expectations. On

the first day of taking them it felt as if a light has been switched on.

I was careful and reduced the dosage by half a grain for the first day,

expecting them to be stronger.... but after a day I went back to my

normal dosage of 2 grain. And I continue to feel gooooood. So good, in

fact, that I have signed up with the local gym - a prospect I could not

face for the past 10 years.

I don't know now if 'stronger' is the right word to use for those

generics. I just find them 'most effective'. I feel better on those

generic Armour than I ever felt on the 'old' Armour or NatureThroid. I

wonder if the T3 in them is slightly higher than approved by the FDA for

example.

You are correct, the Greater Pharma generic Armour is

manufactured in Bangkok although the website calls itself

'Canadian-Mexican'. I have experienced this company to be reliable and

efficient. So for as long as they can deliver, they have my custom.

Did your Greater Pharma come in the manufacturers original bottle or a

repackaged pharmacy bottle?

Also, how many tablets were in each bottle.

I am asking, because another company repackaged an order I recieved.

The web sites that sell them give the expiry date.

Some people freeze them and report this extends the date nicely, just

keep them away from damp.

Yes, they are.

I'm pleased with the Greater Pharma.

What is the filler in Armour that you are allergic to Chris. The

Thyroid-s is not hyper allergenic and yes, there is a lot of different

ingredients.

Sheila

Just wondered if the generics from thailand are hypoallergenic? I read in the

STTM book that one of them at least seemed to have a few things in like

colourings (tartrazine).

I bought the tub of 1000 tablets. The pills comes in one big-ish tub. When I opened it, it had a sealed, (vacuum sucked) airtight plastic bag in it (straight from the manufacturer) which contained slightly over 1000 pills. I know, because I portioned them into packs of 100 into little freezer bags, re-sealed them airtight and put them in the fridge. I have been thinking of freezing them, but am as yet undecided. Anyway, we will use them up well within their use-by date, so for now fridge storage it is.

I am not good at googling, but from what I can make out about the company Greater Pharma - they seem to be one of the biggest in Thailand, and if I have interpreted it correctly, they appear to be a family concern with the family holding 100% of the shares. I don't know if this is a good or a bad thing, but so far I have found dealing with them straight forward. No hitches .... deliveries straight to the door.

Hi Sheila

Not sure which i'm allergic to - think it's the Opadry white/Titanium Dioxide.

http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/armour-vs-other-brands/ also allergic to

gelatin in cytomel.

Thanks

Hi

Thanks for your reply. It sounds like the thai generics suit you well, you must

be so pleased!

I may order some, but am having problems taking anything with t3 which i'm

trying to get to the bottom of but wanted a backup source incase the

Naturethroid etc disappears and i can ever tolerate T3.

Thanks

Hi Nick

thanks for the reply. I rechecked the website and you are of course correct,

they do give the expiry date on them - 3 years, which isn't bad is it.

I haven't been able to find a list of ingredients for greater pharma but have

for the thyroid-s on the STTM website.

Thanks

Chris

Sorry to be a nuisance but does anyone have a bottle of Greater-pharma, if so i

don't suppose it lists the ingredients does it? I 'm guessing it probably

doesn't, as Armour and Naturethroid don't do they

Hi

I assume you mean the fillers? No sorry, the actual tub does not contain any specific information other than saying it contains 60 mg of thyroid. But the tub came with a leaflet, which does list the active ingredients - but not the fillers. It says:

Contents: Thyroid extr., natural versions of the thyroid hormones T4, T3, T1, T2 and other sub-component thyroid hormones. ARMOUR THYROID is the leading combination therapy (T4/T3) product available for the treatment of Hypothyroidism. It is a natural preparation derived from porcine thyroid glands.

..... and then it gives the usual warnings about adverse reactions and precautions.

I just had a light bulb moment..... Why don't you email Greater Pharma and ask them which fillers they are using. If you explain that you are allergic to certain fillers and which ones, they should hopefully tell you if they are using those particular ones .... presumably it's not a State secret... I have found them very helpful with enquiries and they respond fairly quickly - but remember they are 10 or 11 hours ahead of the UK time, and it's the weekend now ....

Thank you for your email.

As far as we know, the Armour Thyroid Greater Pharma medication contains T3 at

8.31 microgram; T4 at 35 microgram, which is 0.013% and 0.058% respectively.

Naturally extract from porcine thyroid glands.

There is no T1 or T2 in both Greater Pharma and Thyroid-S. This is all we got

informed. Hope it is of some help for your consideration.

Should you have any further inquiries, please feel free to contact us again

Well, if there is no T2 or T1 in Thyroid-s - they must have

removed it, and if they have removed it, they must know how much was in it in

the first place, and claims are that nobody has ever measured it. Natural

thyroid extract means that the thyroid gland is desiccated without anything

being removed.

They're probably allowed to assume it's (T2/T1) not there if it's below a

certain amount ~ some of the labelling rules are written to permit this

presumption of absence ( eg, they do this for potentially contaminated [with GM]

food sources ~ a pragmatic approach, from the difficulty in establishing the

truth )
