Hi Caroline, the head injury that you had could have released auto-antibodies to the ear (autoimmune ear disease) and the ticking could be a form of tinnitus" which by the way could be a ticking or buzzing sound. the middle ear gets attacked and alters the fluid in the middle ear which controls the balance mechanism. I get this some times when my balance is disturbed.i have had buzzing in the past, but not so you would notice now!. many doctors don`t no that much about autoimmune problems so difficult to get a diagnoses. their may well call itMeniere`s disease. regards Angel.
