Guest guest
Hi, I just needed to share my hopeless doctors experience. I had my TSH tested a couple of months ago and it was normal, I have all the hypo symptoms and my GP had previously told me my pituitary was sluggish. I saw a different GP last week to ask for my TT4, TT3, FT4 and Ft3. I was expecting a fight and was pleasantly surprised. He admitted that as a GP he wasn't an expert in hypothyroidism and that perhaps my knowledge was better (wow!). I went to get my results today and only my FT4 was tested, the labs had made that decision. he actually rang them up to request that they test T3 but the person he spoke to said testing T3 wasn't useful - it could be low because of any number of things and that information found on the internet was rubbish. Of course my GP was convinced as he considered him an 'expert'. So it looks like I'm forced to self treat until I can afford to see someone like Dr P, I'm going to see if I can scrape together enough money to get the Genova tests done. I'm on a low income and it just seems so unfair! Alice
