Sharon.

What was the results of your daughters blood tests a few weeks ago?

Did you not say both your husbands and daughters T3 were high?

Yep I'm going to say Hyper.....being a former Hyper chick myself,

tiredness IS a sign of both Hypo and Hyper. There are lots of symptoms

the same in both. Post up her blood results from a few wks ago and

it'll help us a bit more.

Whats her pulse been like and what other symptoms is she getting?

said she felt shaky on Tuesday.I know everyone is going to say she was on too

much T3 and was going hyper, but I'm not convinced. She is also taking 322mg of

ferrous fumerate for low ferritin and wondered if that has anything to do with

it.

>

> My thought was that the ferrous fumerate is starting to work which in turn has

meant that the T3 is being better absorbed, which would cause symptoms of

hyper. But since the reduction in T3,she is more tired than before.I DONT KNOW

WHAT TO DO!!! She is still very symptomatic of hypo and I know her ferritin

level needs to be better, but if the ferrous fumerate means she needs to reduce

her T3,how do I reduce the symptoms of hypo?

>

> She wants to try Erfa and her gp is ok with that and I suggested I buy it

first and see what happens, then our gp said he would approach the PCT to fund

it.But I just dont know what to do for the better,I just wish it would all go

away,I'm fed up with knowing what to do for the best.HELP!!!

Sharon,

Do you not have ANY blood results for your daughter? Not even old ones? What

were her results before you put her on T3? I know you say the t4 is low, but

how low? Out of range low, or at the bottom of the range, there is a

difference.

The high T3 may be reverse t3. Reverse t3 is made to get rid of unused t4.

You might have high reverse t3 hence the low t4?

Can you post results for your husband too....

Already have your son's results at TSH 1.32 (.35 - .54) T4 12.8 (10-23) T3

5.5.. T4 a bit low but T3 good. TSH slightly raised was he on meds when this

was taken? Does he have hashimotos?

Have you started doing your own temps and vitamins? You have to get yourself

well before you deal with everyone else.

Hi Sharon.

Could you not call surgery and ask for her last results? It only

takes 15 seconds to take her pulse then times it by 4.

Why is she on such a high dose of T3. was it GP who put her on it?

He/she should surely be monitoring it instead of leaving all this to

you, especially when you yourself are suffering?

One thing to remember is not everyone loses weight when Hyper, the majority do

but you all seem to have the bad luck to be in the minority where treatment is

concerned.

How " stressy " is she? I think you need to get yourself sorted and

rather than trying to second guess your daughters symptoms kick her

backside back to doctors and let them test her again and sort out

her dose accordingly. You sound like its having a big effect on you

and you won't be any good to any of your family if you keep trying

to take all this on your own.

Doctor will be able to check out your theory on her iron levels as

well for her.

I know how much of a worry it is, my oldest daughter got tested for

thyroid a few wks back and I don't like the look of her results but

in order to fight for them..we need to be as fit as we can be :-)

Is it Hashis you all have?

Take care

time ever, she went in to see our gp on her own.I think her T3 level was ok,its

my hubby who had a higher T3 I think but he may have taken his dose to close to

his blood test. But my hubby, daughter and son have low T4 levels and our gp

doesnt understand why.

>

> I've never taken my daughters pulse or temps,as maybe being a stressy teenager

she cant be bothered,no matter how much I say she should.I really dont know why

she became hyper,my only theory is that her iron tablets are being absorbed

better and it enabled her T3 to be absorbed better too, which meant she was now

on too much.

Hi Sharon,

I take it GP tested her for the RT3 issues? He can still test her T3

he dosen't need to put amount she's taking only that she is taking it.

You can take her pulse when she's feeling shaky, I found pulse to be

best indicator of Hyper for me at the end up.

It's a bit irresponsible of your GP to say that it's impossible to monitor her

and leave it up to you...as I said he just needs to write

" on T3 on form " How the hell does he know if the RT3 issues are getting

better...dosen't surprise me though...my old GP left me to go

into Thyroid Storm after marking a result normal and my T3 was through the roof.

Is she still shaky after you lowered dose? Maybe you could lower her

to the 60mcg and then your doc has no excuse.

No wonder you're stressed with all that happening to you! Hope you get

it all sorted out.

My daughter's 25 and yeah I'm definitely up for the fight lol. She's

got a lot of Hypo signs, T4 low in range but so is TSH! She had hyper

symptoms at start of year when I was still ill but never got tested.

I want to know where ger T3 levels are but her doc refused this week.

I've told her to get another appointment and I'm going with her :-)

BTW I was always stressy too...does she throw things lol...I did :-)

they wont tell me.

> What time of day should I take her pulse and remind me why I should take her

pulse as I've forgotten!

> She's on a high dose as she had RT3 issues and I put her on it,as our gp is

only allowed to go up to 60mcg a day.He knows how much she is on,but cant

comment as he is regulated and just said to make sure I dont give her too

much.It would be impossible for him to monitor her at this dose,as he cant be

seen to know she's taking this much.I dont think its that much,as I have seen a

post on here from someone in America I think, saying she is on I think about

300mcg!

>

> My daughter is quite stressy, always has been and you sometimes dont know what

she's going to say in reply to something and she's much better than she used to

be! It wouldnt be worth me sending her back to the gp yet,as he said to wait

about 3 or 4 months before getting her ferritin level checked again to see how

well she is doing. Also,it takes weeks to get an appointment and he wouldnt

suggest a dose of T3 over 60mcg.

Sharon,

Your daughters results don't look too bad, T4 on the low side but was she on

meds at this time? The high amounts of T3 she's been on is worrying. Why

did she feel the need to have high amounts? Come to it your hubbys don't look

too bad either. Have they both recieved a diagnosis of Hypothyroidism from the

doctor?

Your temps, you need to take them to see how you are doing. What you do is take

the first one 3 hours after you wake up, and write it down. Take the second one

three hours later and write it down and the thirs one three hours after that and

write it down. So if you get up at 8 am, take one temp at 11 am, one at 2 pm

and one at 5 pm. Take the three readings for the day, Add them together and

divide by 3 to get an average. You then plot this new average number on a chart

every day. Simples!!

After a week or so you'll be able to look at the chart and see a pattern. If

it jumps around all over th place then that's rubbish adrenals, if it's

pretty steady, but low, that's thyroid.

Go and get a thermometer, keep on with the vits, and don't worry about the rest

of the family, let them get on with it, they're all old enough and big enough.

Just concentrate on your self Sharon.

I have a friend who won't help himself, he expects it all done for him. I've

given him loads of info, but he choses to suffer the way he has been for

years. You sometimes have to stand back, you can't run after them all.

Hi, I get those off days too and am sure it's adrenal fatigue related. Things

get too much after some family stress, an illness or something and then I'm laid

up for a few days. I was watching seaside rescue or something the other day and

a mum accidentally wacked her son in the face with a wooden cricket bat. The boy

was OK but she collapsed, her blood pressure dropped and she started shaking and

all the medics couldn't work out what was up with her....Adrenal I said. Bet

she's got adrenal insufficiency and shock of upset at wacking her son took her

over the edge adrenal wise and caused her to collapse and faint..

look after yourself- rest and try relax too!

getting the right medication or dose right and its having a detrimental effect

on my own health.I dont know whether they are adrenal attacks, but I am getting

many " off " days where I cant cope with anything and cry at the slightest thing

and feel like my world is ending. If it was just me it wouldnt be so bad,but I

have 4 of us to deal with amongst other stressing problems.
