Guest guest
No doubt inappropriate comments. Many are being removed by the moderators, and having to be reinstated. Particularly when they are atracting many votes. Also the system crashed as too many users. It is easier to remove or edit a perceived inapproprate comment than close the whole comment down - Police state or what! Guest guest
I don't know if anyone else subscribes to the benefits and work newsletter but they sent out one this week regarding some of the posts on that site, 'benefit claimants should be sterilised' is one that immediately springs to mind and there were several others that I saw myself which were highly prejudiced against everyone really but lots about sick people and people on benefits and many that were blatently racist which I was under the impression was a criminal offence nowadays. So I cannot understand for the life of me how they can justify deleting Sheila's post and our comments whilst allowing posts like the above to remain. If they keep doing it then maybe someone should get the press involved because the idea of 'listening to the people' and actively looking at suggestions that get the most votes kind of disappears out the window if you are just going to delete the ones with the most votes that you don't like. It just makes a mockery of the whole thing to me - it's like 'we're listening but we've got selective hearing.' I've posted again but if they keep doing things like that surely they are going to end up scuppering their own site anyway because people will start to notice and will just lose confidence and not bother. Personally I never did trust them as far as I could throw them, which right now isn't very far, but I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but Sheila's post being deleted is indeed a worrying sign. Guest guest
Hi Ina - the important topic that was taken down is not this one, it is 'Hypothyroidism - Urgent Public Enquiry Called For'. We had over 70 comments and votes. Every comment has been removed including the original 'Idea'. Fortunately, I had copied most of that original message on to another topic, and we now have to work to get this high enough in the ratings to bring it to the attention of the Treasury so that they will enter into further discussion and investigate this matter further. If you have not yet commented or star rated it, it is VERY important that you do so now, and post the thread wherever you can for others to follow. I have no idea whether Thyroid UK has taken this up or Thyroid Disease.org - the other two main UK Internet Thyroid Support Forums, but if somebody could post the following link there telling them how important this is and asking them to comment, please will you do so. Also, if anybody can post this link on their Facebook or Twitter or wherever else it might be noticed, please do so. This is as close as we have got to getting the Government to listen to us. They simply must NOT take down this Topic as they have done with the other one. http://spendingchallenge.hm-treasury.gov.uk/how-can-we-rethink-public-services-to-deliver-more-for-less/inappropriate-treatment-for-hypothyroidism-should-be-investigated Luv - Sheila Hi Sheila, I can use the site where your article is still there. Regretfully, I am now a classic case of a “financial burden” on the government purely because the NHS will not recognise and treat my blindingly obvious health problems. For the last 10 years my health has gradually deteriorated. Having been dismissed time and again by the NHS I sought private medical assistance and was diagnosed by three independent specialists with long standing hypothyroidism and hypoadrenalism. However, despite thousands of pounds worth of tests and consultations, my NHS GP is not able to recognise this diagnosis and treat me accordingly because my TSH is 3.9. In 2007 I was forced to give up my full time career that involved a lot of driving when my health became worse. Since then I have been mostly housebound but have managed to stay off benefits, and just about keep my head above water, by working as a self employed business consultant from home. Since March this year I became so ill with “Chronic Fatigue Syndrome” (which is the only “diagnosis” my GP can certify) that I have been mostly bedridden and have had to relinquish my self employed contracts. So, I now live off benefits (ESA Support Group) and get Disability Living Allowance as I cannot do any of the normal tasks like shopping, cooking, cleaning, bathing and dressing. Last week it was confirmed that I am also now borderline diabetic. If I was properly diagnosed and treated by the NHS I could be out there working, financially independent and contributing to society with my skill set. Moreover, I could actually be experiencing a life worth living rather than, at the age of 40, feeling like I am trapped in a body that will never function properly again. The diagnosis and treatment of hypothyroidism in the UK is beyond comprehension. These ridiculous TSH reference ranges and the NHS policy to use them as confirmation of this condition is costing our country untold and totally avoidable money in benefits, wasted skills and careers cut short. Such simple changes as suggested above would reap such incredible results. I implore the Government – do it…. do it now! Guest guest
I am happy for us to do that Tess, but we need everybody to upload their messages separately in order they can give their 5 star to rating to help us get to the top of the list. Without that, we might as well not bother. I have spent all day on this, I have a headache, I cannot cook 'cos too tired, so decided to go out to our favourite Chinese Restaurant Alfe's. If they keep taking it off we then have proof, I've got a suspicious mind too and they could maybe say for instance it was a mistake first time around but they won't be able to do that if we keep putting it back up. Love Tess xx thyroid treatment From: sheila@... Date: Thu, 15 Jul 2010 09:41:39 +0000 Subject: TREASURY SPENDING CHALLENGE - our topic removed It appears that our original topioc " HYPOTHYROIDISM - URGENT PUBLIC ENQUIRY CALLED FOR " with over 70 comments and a top rating of 4.8 our of 5.0 has been removed by the Moderators. We have written to the Administrators asking for an expanation as to othe reason why, but none of us, as yet, have had any response. I personally believe that the topoic could well have been deleted as having " inappropriate content " because most of us were complaining about the lack of care by the NHS in the diagnosing the symptoms of hypothyroidism or being allowed a choice of treatment because of the RCP and BTA guidance on the Diagnosing and Management of Primary Hypothyroidism. There were some excellent comments which needed to be aired, and hopefully, they would have convinced the CONDEM Government to take this sorry mess forward for further discussion and investigationl. We were near to the top of the ratings out of over 500 topics, which the Government had promised would be the one's they would be looking at. However, I do believe the hand of the BTA, RCP is making these puppetts do what they want, and everybody's message has been removed. In fact, we could not even log in so you may find you need to log in again. Our suggestion is that there are several other topics with the word 'thyroxine' - 'thyroid' and 'hypothyroidism' in them, See these links below. If you posted a comment on the original (now removed) thread, please send me the 'Username' you used, and I will send you a copy of the comment you sent (I saved them all) and you can then repost it on all of these and give a 5 star rating. We need to push these topics all the way to the top. If the Administrators decide to remove ALL the topics containing these words, then we need to ask questions via the Media. I sincerely hope that the CONDEM Government is not going to CONDEMN everything we write about this topic - it is long overdue for further investigatikons to be made and a public enquiry is the only way to go - we are capable of saving the government millions of pounds and the BTA, RCP are capable of giving back normal health to over 250,000 UK citizens. If we are all determined enough to make this work -IT WILL. There will be people of note out there taking account of what we have written. We will NOT sit back and allow the RCP and the BTA to win - but it's good to know we are making the RCP,BTA et all very uncomfortable. http://spendingchallenge.hm-treasury.gov.uk/@@search?text=hypothyroidism http://spendingchallenge.hm-treasury.gov.uk/@@search?text=thyroxine http://spendingchallenge.hm-treasury.gov.uk/@@search?text=thyroxine Luv - Sheila Get a new e-mail account with Hotmail – Free. Guest guest
Hi - here is the message you posted in the original TOPIC. LUV - Sheila Posted by freeman9007 July 13, 2010 at 14:03 I was left untreated and unable to function due to the flawed TSH blood test. It was not until I obtained information myself that I found out about T3 (Tertroxin) and after pleading and begging managed to get some, despite the Endo-Prat considering it a placebo. My life improved overnight after 20 years of disability. There are hundreds of thousands of people not correctly diagnosed and suffering un-necessary, unable to work and dependent on government benefit. This could be remedied by correct diagnosis and treatment. Flag this comment as inappropriate > > > I think mine was freeman9007 or sunshine. > > jenny No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
My user name is magoo55 - I kept a copy of my first post on the site and it is posted below for you to see: Asolutely in agreement, sensible, reasonable and put in an educated way that cannot possibly be misunderstood by any reader. It must have cost millions in unecessary medications over the number of years I have been treated and tested and yet within months of my treating by my own symptoms, after discussion with my G P, my thyroid is far better controlled. Previous G P's and endocrinologists simply refused to listen and treated me like some kind of imbecile, rather than someone who has a vested interest in their own well being. I urge this government to take note of what has been said here and act upon it as a matter of urgency. They CAN make life worth living for those hypothyroid patients who are not being given the best options as things are at the moment. Unfortunately my second post has also disappeared and I hadn't kept a copy of that one. Guest guest
HI Sheila, This is the link that I used as follows:-http://spendingchallenge.hm-treasury.gov.uk/how-can-we-rethink-public-services-to-deliver-more-for-less/hypothyroidism-urgent-pulblic-enquiry-needed-to-save-money and, this was my message... I would like to strongly urge the Government to take heed of the 250,000 hypothyroid sufferers throughout the UK, who, through no fault of their own, are unable to successfully function on Thyroxine (T4), and need Natural Dessicated Thyroid, or other T3 containing products, to enjoy a normal existance. The real and genuine savings to the NHS, would run into millions of pounds and there would be a lot of very happy and relieved sufferers out there... PLEASE LISTEN TO US!!! Can't get in this morning though!!! Marie
