hi yes was re-tested 2 weeks ago, said im borderline - whatever that means. I'll

make another appointment and ask for my reults ranges etc. I'm pretty sure Iv

only been tested for thyroid tho, Sheila's mentioned about the adrenal and gave

me the link which I read so defo gonna get back to the dr n get more info.

You kinda feel fobbed off by them though, because when I went back last time (2

weeks ago) I feel not right but with other symptoms that I didnt have before

such as the coldness and slight dizzyness, always had the tiredness and putting

on weight and sore throat.

Ok, thats me just called the dr, got a phone app. on mon. pm to be given the

results etc. What exactly should I ask? sorry Im sounding so thick but better

sounding thick on here and then sound like I know what im talking about on the

phone to the Dr!!

Thanks Angel.

Hi, just spoke to my Dr and my 1st levels in feb were 1.45 and are now 2.54

(means nothing to me?) I was tested for antibodies to my thyroid which were

normal. He mentioned something about .4 - 4???

All I know is I slept for 12 hours on fri night 11hrs on sat and 9 last night

and thats not including the odd 1hr-2hr naps during sat and sunday, and still

waking up tired??

I have to say he was not very helpful. :-(

Hi Lucie, Sounds like TSH- the range is usually around 0.5 to 5.5, but varies from lab to lab TPO is the usual antibody test- the result should be lower than >50 Best to check this when you go again. Around 90% of healthy folk have a TSH or 1.0 so of it is TSH then 2.54 is on the high side. > Subject: Re: Hi to new be-> > > > Hi, just spoke to my Dr and my 1st levels in feb were 1.45 and are now 2.54 (means nothing to me?) yes it was TSH that was sitting at 2.54, he told me I should wait a bit longer

as sometimes it takes longer for some ppl's bodies to adjust to the

levothyroxine. I've been taking it for 10 months and Im starting to feel unwell

again so to me somethings not working! its very frustrating. Thanks for

explaining the levels as it meant nothing, IT DOES NOW!

So do I just ride it out (as he suggested) to see if the medication starts

working? Just have to wear lots of jumpers (live in scotland and its become

fairly cold now x 50 to me tho!) and sleep whenever my body tells me to!

Thanks, Lucie :-)

Hi Lucie, some folk do need more meds in winter! ride it out- I don't think so! Ask for a trial of a higher dose and see how that goes- docs do tend to undermedicate. Take you temperature in the moring before you get out of bed- if it is low then you are definitely undermedicated. > thyroid treatment > From: luciemackay@...> Date: Tue, 10 Nov 2009 10:26:56 +0000> Subject: Re: Hi to new be-> > > yes it was TSH that was sitting at 2.54, he told me I should wait a bit longer as sometimes it takes longer for some ppl's bodies to adjust to the levothyroxine. Thanks , this site has been such a great help, so glad I found it.

My friend said she went to a herbalist (or something) with underactive thyroid

and he gave her agnus cactus - is that not for when your having trouble with

your periods?

Anyway will take all advice given and fingers x'd!

Hi lucie, Agnus castus- for heavy periods- logical as too much oestrogen takes thyroid hormones out of use ,we need to rebalance with progesterone. Hypo tends to cause heavy periods. > thyroid treatment > From: luciemackay@...> Date: Wed, 11 Nov 2009 15:21:20 +0000> Subject: Re: Hi to new be-> > > > Thanks , this site has been such a great help, so glad I found it.> My friend said she went to a herbalist (or something) with underactive thyroid and he gave her agnus cactus - is that not for when your having trouble with your periods? > Anyway will take all advice given and fingers x'd! > Lucie :-) > > > >> > > > Hi Lucie,> > some folk do need more meds in winter! ride it out- I don't think so!
