Guest guest
Hi there, Thanks for all your replies!! I do like this group, people are so friendly. Just a quick question, has anyone had any problems with customs stopping the shipment? Rod
Guest guest
Hi Rod - customs arent interested if the cost is less than £18 which if you are just ordering the melatonin it will be - but if you take other vitamins check prices as a lot are cheaper to buy from US than here! Cost of armour etc that people buy from International Pharmacy is likely the reason why customs seem to target parcels from them!! Gill Thanks for all your replies!! Guest guest
Hi Rob - I am so pleased that you like this group - we have some lovely members and lovely moderators. Yes, many of us have, but it seems to be more of a problem with International Pharmacy, and now with Value Pharmaceuticals - both places where we buy our natural thyroid extract. It doesn't happen all the time, but anything that is over £18 is liable to be stopped at Customs charged VAT and then passed on to the Royal mail who then send out a card saying we have to pay another £8 for their handling fee. Guest guest
To be quite honest, I sit in my little conspiracy room wondering whether a certain UK thyroid association is at the back of all this - trying to make our desiccated thyroid so expensive we give up in the end and go back onto the synthetic levothyroxine. There is far too much of a coincidence with what happens - and now it has started happening with Value Pharmaceuticals too just recently. Luv - Sheila Hi Rod, I have been ordering melatonin from Biovea for many years and I have never had any trouble with delivery. The only trouble I have had is with International Pharmacy - it seems the Customs only target packages from them. B No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
Hi rod, This can apply to all packets with a value of over £18- the post office then send a card telling you the VAT amount and also charge you £8 for the privilege of paying the VAT to them. Not all packets got stopped, but some sources seem to be targeted- or is my paranoia showing. > thyroid treatment > From: rod.zz@...> Date: Thu, 11 Feb 2010 19:14:43 +0000> Subject: Re: Purchasing melatonin - customs issues?> > > > Hi there,> > Thanks for all your replies!! Guest guest
Hi Cec It is a lot more expensive in the UK than from abroad, but until recently, I thought Melatonin was banned in the UK, or we needed a prescription. I have written to Biovea to ask whether a prescription is required. Melatonin only costs $15 from www.pharmwest.com but costs about £18 (with the discount they allow) from Biovea. Luv - Sheila Hi Just wondering why you want to import melatonin when you can buy it in the UK. Biovea have it on special offer at the moment and there address is London SW7 4UB http://www.biovea.net Cec
Guest guest
Hi Sheila, I have been buying 1mg melatonin from Biovea for many years. My brother brought some back from the USA about 10 years ago for his jet-lag and gave me some. I started taking because I was going through an emotionally traumatic time and could not get to sleep. It saved my sanity at the time. B
Guest guest
Hi Sheila My friend just placed an order without a prescription. The order was for 360 tabs @ 3mgs, (just under a years supply) and the price was £18.95 plus £2.50 postage. . She has ordered from them before and found them very fast Cec > > Hi Cec > > > > It is a lot more expensive in the UK than from abroad, but until recently, I > thought Melatonin was banned in the UK, or we needed a prescription. Guest guest
Let's hope she gets them through Customs without having to pay VAT and the Royal Mail handling fee of £8.0. Let us know if she gets clobbered for this. Did she order from Pharm West or from elsewhere? Luv - Sheila Hi Sheila My friend just placed an order without a prescription. Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Re: My friend just placed an order without a prescription. The order was for 360 tabs @ 3mgs, (just under a years supply) and the price was £18.95 plus £2.50 postage. The melatonin was purchased from www.BIOVEA.net and they said it would be dispatched by royal mail so we assume its coming from the UK.Cec > >> > Hi Cec>
Guest guest
Hi Sheila The Melatonin arrived this morning it was dispatched from Slough by royal mail there was also a 5% discount as it was a repeat order.I looked on pharmwest site and you only get 60 tablets for $15 plus $7.50 postage so I think Biovea's 360 tablets for £18.95 plus £2.50 postage is a much better deal. I don't know if there are any other UK sites selling Melatonin but it might be worth a look. My friend uses Biovea for most of her supplements because she has used them for years has and has found them good. Also she's never had a prescription and has never been asked for one.Cec> >> > Hi Cec> > > > > > > > It is a lot more expensive in the UK than from abroad, but until recently, I> > thought Melatonin was banned in the UK, or we needed a prescription. Guest guest
Definitely a better deal Cec and thanks for letting us know about this. Let me know how you get on using Melatonin- I hope it works for you. Make sure there is no light coming into your bedroom, because for Melatonin to work, you need complete darkness. You may experience a headache occasionally when you wake up, but this is only momentary, it rapidly goes away. Sometimes I got one, sometimes I didn't, but generally, I used to wake up feeling amazingly refreshed.
