Guest guest
Hi all, Does anyone know why TPA reference ranges seem to vary so wildly?! I'm sure ranges for all the tests vary so if anyone knows why I would like to know as it seems to me that this is crazy! A friend has just had her test results back, TPA level is 62 in a ref range of 0 - 100 which is loads wider than the range used for my test (0 - 49)and I see in Stevie's post about her daughter a range of 0 - 35 was used. I think my friend's TPA level is too high but her doctor might say not according to that ref range - ridiculous! Post code lottery, I think! If there is a method to the madness I'd be interested to know! Thanks and have a good day, Adele x

Guest guest
Thanks Sheila: TPA level is 62 in a ref range of 0 - 100 I just wonder why the ref range is so much wider than all the others I've seen? I know her reading isn't the highest ever but I'm concerned that she won't get help if her GP judges the results on the basis of that range when if she'd had the test done at the same lab mine came from (ref range 0 - 49) she would get a diagnosis.
