Guest guest
Hi I've been on 25mg of Levothyroxin and 3 and a quarter grains of Thyroid-S/Armour for about 4 years. I've just had the results of my first blood test. As I didn't know I was having a blood test I took my meds 7 hours earlier, unfortunately. T4 24.5 (9-22) T3 15.5 (0.5-6) TSH 0.02 My GP has asked me to go down to 2 and a half grains, which I am willing to try, as even I can see that if you ignore T3 results the T4 is high. He thinks I'm converting perfectly - but then the T3 result is skewed because I had taken my meds that morning. I feel fine, but I do have a fast heartbeat and borderline high blood pressure, which he thinks will come back to normal if I reduce the Thyroid-S. I know you are all busy people but I wondered if anyone has any thoughts. Love Jan M
Guest guest
Hi Jan, When I've has surprise blood tests my T3 results has been about double what is is if I don't take meds on the day of the test- T4 and TSH won't be affected much. On that point it would still be highish at 7.6 ish So taking that into account it may be worth dropping your NDT dose a little to see how it goes. After all it's how you feel not how the blood tests look, and as you sound slightly overmedicated that mey be the answer- try 1/2 a grain less for starters- or just that odd quarter. > thyroid treatment > From: janmiles@...> Date: Tue, 20 Apr 2010 10:54:16 +0000> Subject: Blood results after 4yrs on NDT> > Hi> > I've been on 25mg of Levothyroxin and 3 and a quarter grains of Thyroid-S/Armour for about 4 years. Guest guest
Hi That's very useful information. So my T3 would be about half if I hadn't taken the meds on the morning of the test. The GP wants me to go down to 2 and a half grains. I'm going to do this gradually and see how I feel. I've got another blood test in June, so I'll be better prepared this time. Thanks , much appreciated.
