Guest guest
My gyn is very happy to prescribe a natural estrogen/progesterin preparation that gets sent from Women's International Pharmacy. And my insurance company pays for it. I've been very happy with the whole process. If you call the Pharmacy, they can send you a list of physicians that they work with, or can send a whole pack of infor to any Dr. who is willing to work with them The number is 1 800 279-5708. Namaste, Phyllis Does anyone on this list know how to change from Premarin to a natural HRT? I just read about the danger of Estrogen if taken for many years. I have been on them for 13 years and would like to find a natural replacement. But was also warned not to quitt cold turkey. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
I switched to a natural form of estrogen/progesterone. It is a prescription, not available at the health food store. I'm not sure how it compares to estriol. Phyllis Re: HRT In a message dated 04/12/2001 6:49:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time, hfreeman@... writes: << I just switched and there was NO problem. Guest guest
Dear Jim. Thank you for that information on HRT. I will contact them. Christel
Guest guest
Hi Jim, I'm new to the group. This info sounds great to me. My dr already prescribes natural HRT transdermally, but not on the grander scale that you refer to. I'm interested in the phone consult you described, in order to insure the best possible HRT. But how could this work if he does saliva testing to determine your needs? Is this like the mail-order saliva test kits I'm offered by some of the catalogs that I receive? Thanks. Guest guest
Peggy, No, this is NOT like the saliva kits you get mail order. These are from a specific lab, and saliva tests are how they test for many hormones. The hard part is coming up with enough spit for the vial. ;-) Dr. uses a specific lab that has proven itself to be the most reliable, as the blood tests for hGH are really tricky, and that is not the same level of accuracy as the mail order tests I have seen on the market. In hormone tests, it is vitally important to have all testing done at the same lab, and that the lab is consistent, or there is no real comparison of results, before and after, possible. Dr. is on of the tops in his field in this country. He's also a really nice man. And, comprehensive HRT is his specialty. Menopausal & perimenopausal hormones are part of what his specialty deals with. Telephone consults are all that is really needed. I had a blind doctor once. He was very good, but couldn't see. Dr. on the phone can consult for anything where the MD doesn't need to see the patient. In the case of hormones, most of his decidion process is based on the lab work results. He has you fill out a 10 page patient history, like any doctor would. It's not as odd as it sounds, and Dr. spends more time with patients on the phone than most docs do in person. jim Tim & /or Peggy Walters wrote: > > Hi Jim, > > I'm new to the group. Guest guest
You are absolutely right! Read Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler http://www.tcoyf.com/ Also: The Estrogen Alternative by Raquel . Suzanne Ohio HRT Here's the big question that I have had ever since they cancelled the big HRT study a year or so ago when the realized the hormones were so harmful: why is nobody mentioning that the same kinds of hormones they give to menopausal women are in birth control pills/patches/shots??? Where is the same kind of concern for all of us women using hormonal forms of birth control? It all seems to focus on the menopause meds, but it all looks about the same to me. I keep thinking if it is not good for the older ladies, it is probably not good for the younger ones either...but God forbid anyone tries to mess with female birth control pills, right??? ===== ================================================== http://www.wendyfiles.com See the cutest baby girl EVER: http://www.babyzone.com/Features/BabyBooks/Book.asp?BookID=355101 " It is not caving in to the bees to stop poking a stick into their hive. Guest guest
Yeah! My DH insisted that I get my tubes tied after Christian (only child so far) and I said no way...if you want to prevent further pregnancy...you get cut! I don't feel comfortable doing that...just feel like I'm totally playing God (not that being on the shot is much better, but at least I haven't removed totally my child bearing capabilities!) Guest guest
Hi there I just need to correct the post re HRT coming from Mare's urine. It isn't all of them - only one - called Premarin. regards Mandy
Guest guest
Premarin, I remember this one. Doc tried to put me on it years ago, but a bit of research showed it as being the very worst one for people with thyroid problems. Can't remember why though. > > Hi there I just need to correct the post re HRT coming from Mare's urine. Guest guest
Hi there, I was on HRT for nearly 20 years and it saved my life .................and even though I have thyroid issues and Lupus I still have to have my HRT because I am deficient in oestrogen/progesterone which are adrenal hormones. regards Mandy
