Unfortunately,I have found nothing really seems to help. One thing I have noticed though is that when I've been on thyroxine in the past my cycles are much shorter and usually regular.I find this somewhat strange as thyroxine does nothing to alleviate any of my hypo symptoms. Also the painful cramps are still present and my breasts have fibrocystic lumps. On Armour/Naturthroid my cycles are longer and the menstrual pain is variable from month to month. But I have no fibrocystic lumps in my breasts. Its all very strange!I certainly feel more hypo symtoms at that time of the month though. I remember reading something about Vitamin A being administered to women who had heavy menstrual bleeding and how it lessened their blood flow considerably. So that might be something to think about. Also Agnus Castus has been touted as another good treatment for PMS and is supposed to help regulate the menstrual cycle. I hope you find something that helps because its a bloody awful business.Excuse the pun!!! Peary
Guest guest
hi there, yes there is a connection with period pain . I once had a pain(period) which lasted over two weeks it was so bad that i went to hospital and they keep me in for two days because they though it was my appendix..i did not feel hungry and did not eat for nearly 48 hours. the sister sent down to the kitchen for some chicken/salad. the lack of thyroid hormones affect the progesterone/oestrogen balance that causes menstrualproblems. I would recommend using progesterone cream for this. ! regards angel.
Guest guest
Hi Ansar, Theoretically if your thyroid is treated properly then your periods should settle down, but this is not always the case. vit D and selenium is a good start, but zinc is vital too- you can do a quick check on your zinc levels by sucking a zinc gluconate tablet- if it just tastes chalky then you're low. Try again in a months time of supplememtation and you''ll see what i mean about tase- yeuch! > thyroid treatment > From: ansar_d@...> Date: Fri, 2 Jul 2010 16:08:59 +0000> Subject: hashimoto's and period pain> > I would like to know if any of u experience extreme period painwith having hashimoto's disease. Is thier a flare up of the symptoms during periods .> I would also like to know what natural, allopathic & herbal treatment & supplements benefited u to manage hashimoto's disease & does it also help in losing excess weight . Guest guest
Hi Ansar, I'm hypothyroid and before I started on T3 and had adrenal support I had the most horrendous periods.I used to faint, have bad diarrhea, bad stomach and back ache and would have to leave work and go to bed ,or go lie down in the toilet at work. Now I still get some pain but generally it's got much better after improving my thyroid and adrenal situation.I'm not optimised yet so it may go away.Your situation could rectify itself but I know that's no help in the meantime,at work I always felt so embarrassed to be getting in such a bad way with my period and used to hate the way it brought my life to a halt.Don't know whether you supplement unrefined sea salt as part of your treatment or have low sodium.I take this anyway and it may sound strange but sometimes I've found extra salt helps my period pains at this time.Might be just with me but you never know.Hope they get better, x >>>I would like to know if any of u experience extreme period painwith having hashimoto's disease. Is thier a flare up of the symptoms during periods .
